Hello there, bstanard.
I'm here to help and share information about the Tags feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Though you can add as many Tags as you like to a transaction, the ability to add one to each line item is currently unavailable. As an alternative solution, you can utilize the Class feature. To learn more about how this feature works, you can refer to this article: Create and manage classes in QuickBooks Online.
I can see the value this option could bring to your business. I recommend providing direct feedback to our product developers, as they actively seek ideas to enhance QuickBooks.

Hello, @bstanard.
Welcome to the Community. I hope your day is going well so far.
I'd be more than happy to provide you with some details on how to track and report on income and expenses for a specific event.
You can use Tags or Classes to show the specific information you need on a report. Review each guide below with your accountant to see which would best fit your business:
When choosing a report to run, I recommend using the report you seek best that includes, "By tag group" or "by class" at the end. Don't forget that you can also customize them to your liking.
Feel free to come back if you need me again. I'm only a post away. Have a splendid day!
Thanks, Candice. Perfectly answers my question, but...
How do I tag part of an online deposit from my website (we use Stripe) when it contains, say, two separate items?
For instance, a $120 deposit contains $100 for an event ticket and $20 for a tour ticket. I have an event tag already created. I already have accounts titled Other Types of Income:Tour Revenue (which doesn't need a tag, I think) and Fundraising Events Income.
