Join nowOne more complaint - we won't worry or rush to fix an issue - we want you to just buy the new product .- While we do not know when this issue will be rectified, you may consider upgrading to the latest release of QBDT 2023 to use this feature.
This is happening to me as well. Every Job/Time report crashes the file when you try to customize or filter. It is a bit disconcerting to be given step by step generic instructions when multiple people experience this issue. In order for this to be generic, we would all have to have corrupt files, which mysteriously became corrupt over the past month. Please look into a real solution. It is a waste of time to go through generic fixes, when you could spend the time and effort looking into the root cause. Rebuilding the data file is the first step with every support tech in the history of QuickBooks.
I reinstalled QB without the update and it works. The problem is that after about five days, QB makes you install the update in order to open the program. I am on my third reinstall. I hope they are working on a fix for this.
It took a few chat/call sessions but the issue is FINALLY resolved for our company!!!
Contact support and have them call you (Say No to Chat)!!! Reference Investigation # INV-92635 and if you actually get a knowledgeable team member they SHOULD help you with upgrading from 2021 to a newer version at no cost to you since your license should still be supported and it's clearly due to an error in the last update. Apparently, there's no undo button for this situation. Good luck!
Currently, there's an ongoing investigation about being unable to filter the Time by Job Detail Report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) (INV-92635). This issue seems to be specific to customers who use the QBDT 2021 version. To be updated on when this will be resolved or updates about the status of the investigation, I recommend reaching out to our Phone support team so you'll be added to the list of impacted users.
I took your advice and spoke to a customer service rep. WARNING: they will only upgrade you to the newest version if you have Pro Plus. I have Pro and was told I had two options: 1) Pay $650 to upgrade to 2023 Pro Plus or 2) wait and see when they get this repaired! Since Version 2024 will be released soon upgrading to 2023 seems like a waste of money. I've been working around the problem by exporting the Time by Job Detail into Excel then pulling out the job information I need. this is awkward and time consuming. Fix the problem already!
I am having this same problem in all my company files (10+). I cannot run any report regarding Time without it shutting down and I cannot get the information I need out of the software to do my billing properly.
Thanks for joining the thread, @Rachelleajohnson.

Same issue here with QBDT 2021 for the last 2 weeks. We need a fix not a 'just upgrade to the newest version' solution please.
Having the similar issue but with QB Desktop Accountant 2021. Tried everything is this thread but it only fixes temporarily. Need a perminant fix.

After calling in to QB customer care, your support teams (tried two different individuals) know nothing about taking our information and keeping in touch via email.
I have been having the same issue for a couple of weeks. The only fix I have found is to uninstall and reinstall the program. It will work the next time you open the program. It breaks again once you close and reopen the program. I agree with the thread of users. To force us to upgrade is not an acceptable solution. I pay an annual subscription and have not upgraded due to the discontinuation of the loan manager. No explanation and no intent on bringing it back even though QB has received many complaints. QB was a great program, but as the user base grew they disconnected from their customers.
Has anyone out there gotten a response to this issue. I keep talking with the help desk, but to this point I have not received any help on this issue. They say they are working on it , but it has been over a month.
Do you use the ticket INV-92635 when you talk to them?
Hi Abegail, any update? From other comments I've read the ticket # is INV-92635.
The only advice our company received, was to upgrade to eliminate the issue. We did upgrade, and it did resolve the issue. Personally, I don't agree with that, as a solution.
Hi there, @LIFO da Party. The ticket number you mentioned is correct, Let me share insight about this ticket/investigation.

I can't believe Intuit hasn't fixed this error with filtering reports yet. What a disgrace to their product, we have loved for so many years. Maybe time to upgrade to different accounting software.
Hi there.. I was finally able to fix the issue. I went on with Quickbooks help chat and they walked me through updating my Quickbooks to 2024. It did not require any money.. just upgrading the system to the latest update. Was very easy to do and solved the problems!
Good Luck!
