How can I export the P&L report to excel in the same format it displays in quickbooks? I can export it but it's not lined up like it shows it in Quickbooks.

Hi mkhannfar,

We'll help you check this out. However, can you give us more information about the line up that you mean? Is it the order of accounts or the hierarchy? I tried exporting my P&L, but the order of accounts and hierarchy are just the same on the exported report in Excel. A screenshot would also help. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for your help and reply. This look in the attached file I can't get anymore. All I get is just two columns. One one, the account or category name. On the other, the amount. I'm trying to export it exactly how it looks in Quickbooks.

Thanks

Thanks for keeping us updated, mkhannfar. I'll be delighted to guide you on how to retain the original layout.

I tried exporting the Standard Profit and Loss report on my end and was able to populate it correctly. To ensure the format will perfectly align, let's turn on the special QuickBooks and Excel options in the Advanced settings. I'll walk you through the steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Scroll down to Company & Financial.
  3. Choose Profit & Loss Standard, then apply the appropriate customizations.
  4. Click the Excel button, then choose Create new worksheet.
  5. Tap Advanced, then tick the Fonts, Colors, Space between columns, Row height, Autofit, Freeze panes, Show Gridlines, Auto Outline, and Show report header checkboxes.
  6. Hit OK once you're done.

When saving the file, we'll have to use a macro-enabled workbook. QBDT reports often contain complex calculations, formatting, and interactivity that are specific to the application. Macros help guarantee that these features will still work after they're exported.

Furthermore, keep your Microsoft Excel up-to-date so you always obtain the latest features and security patches.
