Let me provide a little more information about importing journal entries in QuickBooks Online.
I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. However, importing journal entries isn't currently offered in QuickBooks Online.
I'll take this as feedback and submit it to our product engineers. As a team with a massive road-map, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.
We aren't able to tell when a feature will be available. We share recent happenings and future developments on our blog. Through this, you're able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on. You can check out this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/.
Lastly, you can look for an app that can help you import the Journal Entry in QuickBooks Apps. There you can look/enter the service available in an app in the search box like export and import.
Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance or should you have any follow up questions. I’ll be here to help. Have a good one!
Company provides the feature for other regions since last April/May. For the time being, utlize the trial period of TP Importer.

Hello!
If you're looking for more people interested in being able to import an Excel spreadsheet into a journal entry, here I am. Our payroll is very complex and it would be incredibly helpful to be able to import a speadsheet into a journal entry.
Hello,
If you're looking for more users for whom this feature would be helpful, you can add my name to the list.
I just switched from Quickbooks desktop to Quickbooks online. This is one of those things that wasn't disclosed - that we would no longer be able to upload our payroll files like the desktop version. Since you are taking feedback, this is one of the items that should be universal across all Quickbooks versions as many small companies use third parties to do their payroll and uploading the journal entry ensures it is entered appropriately and quickly. Thank you!
I see that journal entry import is supported in other parts of the world (for example, the UK version) in Quickbooks Online, already. When will this be available for your United States customers?
We recognize the urgency to be able to import journal entries into QuickBooks Online USA, @jasonraycroft,
This is something our engineers are looking into. We are unable to provide the turnaround time on when features are released in QuickBooks, since this is handled by the Developers Team.
Rest assured, you'll get notified once they are available in the program. All our program features and enhancements are launched and created with you in mind. To keep track on what's new and hot with QuickBooks Online, please visit the following link: QuickBooks New Features and Innovations.
In the meantime, you may use third-party importer application to move journal entries from another source into QuickBooks. You can check out our apps website to find the best app for you.
Feel free to get in touch with us if you have other questions regarding our program. I'll be more than happy to help you anytime.
Does this mean it works now?
Hello there, @PhilW2.
Currently, being able to import journal entries in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable. You may want to consider using a third-party application to import them as a workaround.
You can check for supported apps through this link: QuickBooks Apps Store or from the Apps menu.
Here's how:
1. In QBO, go to the Apps menu at the left pane to get to the Finds Apps page.
2. Enter a keyword in the Search address (i.e import).
3. Select the app you wanted to use.
4. Click Get app now.
I can see how having this option would be helpful for you and your business, and I'll take note of this. Our Product Engineers are always looking for ideas to consider how to improve QBO.
To see the list of what you can import to QBO, refer to this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.
Please click the Reply button below if you have any other questions, and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
The link is applicable for QBO UK version. You have to use a 3rd party tool to import JE into QBO US version.
