In QuickBooks Online, there are different ways on how to record a credit card payment. You can code through the following methods:
- Pay down a credit card
- Make a payment after reconciling your credit card
- Use banking download
Since the solution is scenario-based, I recommend you select the one that applies to your situation. If the credit card and the checking account are connected to the bank feeds, input the payment via the Transfer feature. Let me share the steps on how to do this in your company.
- Navigate to the Banking menu on the left panel to choose Banking.
- In the Banking section, click the drop-down to select your checking account.
- In the For Review column, look for the transaction you wish to transfer and click on it to expand the line.
- Tick the Record as transfer radio button and then select the credit card account you want to send the transaction to.
- Click the Record transfer link under the Action column.
- After transferring the payment, you’ll have to match it with the new account. Here’s how:
- Select the Recognized tab and locate the transaction.
- Choose the Find match radio button.
- The Match transaction window will appear for you to choose the transaction.
- Then click Save.
