Does the advanced inventory support multiple inventory locations

Hi TDK Ewusi,

I've got good news! You can absolutely use multiple inventory locations using the advanced inventory feature in QuickBooks Desktop. You can create multiple sites and create bin locations for other addressable unit of space in each location. You can check the Create inventory sites section in this article to see complete details:

https://community.intuit.com/articles/1554738-set-up-advanced-inventory

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help with your advanced inventory feature.

Does the advanced inventory support multiple inventory locations

Thanks for the answer.

Please what if I want to designate the site/location as Sales Reps name and sell out of their location when I received invoices from the field from them and also transfer inventory from the main warehouse to them.

How do I go by that?

@Jeff
This topic, at the top, shows it is a Question for using Enterprise. That function is described in Pro/Premier Help as pertaining only to Enterprise. And it is an Additional Fee Service level.

What if you have two locations you are doing SELLING out of the same inventory. Same company but you are selling out of the inventory and BOTH locations have inventory.  Since its a different location, another company file needs to be created and used, so now I have two company files, inventory in ADDRESS 1 and ADDRESS 2.

For example, ADDRESS 1  has 36 Widgets.

ADDRESS 2 has 40 Widgets.

The total company has 70 Widgets between the 2 locations.

We sell 46 widgets to be delivered to our customer from ADDRESS 1 (This has 36 widgets in stock, and 1- cabinets need to be pulled from ADDRESS 2, and this needs location needs to be decreased by 10 widgets. )

So now ADDRESS 1 has ZERO Widgets, and ADDRESS 2 30 Widgets on hand.

How do we keep this inventory synced or "centralized" with two different company files that have the SAME ITEM LIST.

"Since its a different location, another company file needs to be created and used"

No; you keep that One FEIN = one file. The multiple warehouse functions is in that one file. You cannot manage one company's financial data using two different data files.

"How do we keep this inventory synced or "centralized" with two different company files that have the SAME ITEM LIST."

You don't use that method. If you have a need for Multiple Locations, that is why you use Enterprise with the Additional function.

Although I appreciate your response, it did not answer my question.

If there are two locations are they going to use the same number sequence in invoices? They will both access the company file but will seeing one another’s transactions? This doesnt seem efficient.

In addition, how do both access company file? Would remote network be set of sync?

Your questions are not the same as this topic. You cannot use Remote Connectivity and you cannot use two different data files.

Im confused on why you are responding to this topic. You do not answer the question, you just give a snipet of information. Do you have some benefit with number of responses?

@amitsoniflorida

"Im confused on why you are responding to this topic."

You posted your questions into a topic that already exists and is from Oct 2017; I was one of the original people that responded to this topic. When you Commented in this topic, it sent me an Update notice. I responded, because you Commented in a topic I had already been participating it. That's how this internet forum works.

"You do not answer the question, you just give a snipet of information."

I gave you the best advice: Your Questions do not relate to what is in this topic, already. As long as you looked at the helpful links we all provided previously,  but did not get the information you need, then instead of Still Updating an old topic that isn't even Your issue, it is time to post your own topic, and get specific help for your selective issues. That is how this internet forum works.

"Do you have some benefit with number of responses?"

Well, the Comment function doesn't accrue towards any "counting" function. And it's not as if Intuit offers Frequent Flyer Mileage to us, your Peer Users that volunteer to be part o this community and try to help each other.

And it helps if you Play Nice on the internet, when people are trying to give you good advice. Please start your Own Topic, ask your specific questions, and you might actually get Answers that apply.

And you never even responded to the two main things I pointed out will not work for your situation:
It has to be One Data file.
You cannot use Remote Access to Share data in two files, from two locations.

Because, if you Did read the support articles linked in this topic, you would have a better understanding of how Multiple Warehouse Sites and Advanced Inventory Management, actually work. Intuit provides the support articles so that you can learn from them.

Then, you ask your own topic, if you need more help.

Of, you can contact Intuit support, of course. Because right here, this is Not Live Chat with Intuit. You are on the web.

Open Help and read on "Warehouse Sites." You are asking about Sites.

"what if I want to designate the site/location as Sales Reps name"

Open Lists menu > Other Names List. Put the Warehouse Name here. Now add this name as a Sales Rep. Now, use that field on your transactions.

"and sell out of their location when I received invoices from the field from them and also transfer inventory from the main warehouse to them."

Then you want them for Two Functions: One is Sales Rep and one is Site. The Program doesn't know this is your intent; you can do whatever you want to.

Does the advanced inventory support multiple inventory locations

Is it possible to do this across multiple company files? I have several stores that each has their own QB enterprise company file that's hosted on right networks. I'd like to be able to easily transfer inventory between these stores and keep track of it all from any of the company files. Does enterprise with advance inventory sync up all the data between the different files?

Hi rackstarz,

With QuickBooks Desktop, we're unable to sync the data from one company file to another in a simultaneous way.

You'll have to import them manually. From there, you can set up advanced inventory.

I've added this reference as your guide: Set up Advanced Inventory.
