How can I correct transacti ons categorized to wrong category from 2020?

Let me help you change the transaction categories in QBO, harley88.

If the books for 2020 have already been closed, you need to open it first so you can edit transactions from that period. Here's how:

  1. Make sure you're logged in as the primary admin or company admin. Only admins can make these changes.
  2. Go to Gear or Settings ⚙ icon and select Accounts and Settings.
  3. Proceed to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click Edit ✎ in the Accounting section.
  5. Change the closing date. To change your password, just enter a new password and confirm it.
  6. Click Save and click Done.

Once done, you now proceed to editing the categories. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Expenses menu and proceed to the Expenses tab.
  2. Click the drop-down list for Filter and change the date to Last year.
  3. Change the categories in the Category column.

You can also follow the steps in this article for more options: Find, Review, and Edit Transactions in Account Registers.
