I can certainly understand how an ability to print invoices with decimal hours instead of the currenty display could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
You also have the option of checking our QuickBooks App Store for apps which may be able to help you achieve what you're looking to accomplish.
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Thursday!
ZackE, your response is unhelpful and what I and many others find frustrating about Quick Books. QB has been asked about this issue for at least three years and the Admin response is always something along the lines of "I understand how this feature would be useful but it is not available at this time. I will submit your suggestion to our Development team." Here is an actual post from 2020:
Hello there, rlinton.
Currently, the option to change the time format isn't available in QuickBooks Online. Rest assured, I'll take note of this idea and share it with our developers. This suggestion will be analyzed by our Development team and may be added as one of QuickBooks Online new features."
It seems it would be a simple coding assignment for a junior programer to allow invoices to be printed with decimal hours instead of hours and minutes. Particularly because that is the way invoices were done on QuickBooks before we were forced onto QBOnline. I've seen this request multiple times on the QB Support page. It appears QB has no intention of taking our suggestions and implementing them.
I'm echoing this urgent need! Our government client is requiring this for accuracy's sake. Right now their invoice shows HH:MM entries that do not multiply out correctly to the total in the right column - whereas, a decimal time entry DOES multiply out correct to the total in the right column. We are quite literally submitting inaccurate invoices due to this issue - which QB has within their power to fix.
Has anyone figured out how to bill in tenths of an hour on QBO?
Thanks for joining us here, LawDog1.
I can see that a similar question about time format in invoices was also asked in a separate thread. Let me share this link so you can read the response form one of the members of the QuickBooks Team: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/re-time-reflected-on-invoices/01/1...

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I have been trying to figure this out for weeks.
Did you get an answer on this? I have been struggling with trying to figure this out for some time now.
Have you been able to solve this problem? I am struggling with how to solve this.
Nope. Still waiting on resolution. Until it gets resolved I still have to use QB Desktop.
Hi, Jody.
You can now easily display hours in decimal format on printed invoices instead of hours and minutes. Please let me fill you in on the update.
To get started, you need to create or edit an invoice in QuickBooks Online:
The preview will show you exactly how the printed invoice will look, including the visibility of the decimal points. If everything looks good, you can now print or send the invoice:
On the other hand, if this is not the case after replicating, and the decimal point still didn't apply, let's perform some browser troubleshooting to see if the issue is related to cached data.
I'd also like to share this comprehensive guide: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. It's a fantastic reference that details how to integrate various components into your sales forms, allowing you to personalize them to your business style.

Thank you for your comprehensive response. I agree, when you enter time in tenths of an hour directly into an invoice, the invoice will print in tenths of an hour. However, the problem occurs when I enter a single time activity for a client in tenths of an hour. When I add that billable time to an invoice, the printed version of the invoice converts it to hours and minutes. For example, if I bill a client .3, on the printed invoice it shows as 0:18. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
I appreciate your constant participation in this thread, Law.
I'm here to discuss details about entering a Single time activity and how it reflects on your invoices. I'll also share some troubleshooting procedures to resolve the incorrect time in the printed invoice.
Please know that you can only enter time activity in hh:mm format. When generating the time in tenths, the platform automatically converts the entered value in hh:mm even before saving the time entry. For example, if you've input 0.3 in the Time field, it's altered to 0:18.
Meanwhile, if you've added the billable time to your invoice, QuickBooks automatically modifies the format to decimal hours (from 0.18 to 0.3). Since the printed invoice displayed the hh:mm format instead of decimal in the QTY section, I recommend accessing your account in a private browser to narrow down the result.
Refer to these keyboard shortcut keys to proceed:
Once the time shows the accurate figure (0.3) while using the incognito mode, revert to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies. Doing so removes excessive data build-up that affects the platform's performance. If the issue persists, consider using another supported browser.
However, I'd recommend contacting our Support Team if you get the same result. Getting in touch with them ensures this matter gets reviewed accordingly.
Finally, you may also personalize your sales forms according to your business preference. For the detailed steps, refer to this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you Ivan. Using a "Modern" Invoice it printed in tenths. Using the "Standard" Invoice it converted and printed in hours and minutes. I will use the Modern invoice and my problem is solved.
