Thanks for visiting the Community, @adonimportsusa. You can set up QuickBooks Payment even without an SSN as it is optional. 

 

Then, connect your payment account to QuickBooks OnlineHere's how: 

 

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online as an admin.
  2. In the Settings menu, select Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Payments tab. In the Existing account section, select Connect or Link Merchant Service.
  4. Select the QuickBooks Payment account you want to connect. Then click Connect.
  5. Review the account info and make sure it's accurate, then click Connect.

 

Once done, sign out and log in again to your QuickBooks Online.

 

For future reference, visit the official IRS website should you need to get the Employer ID Numbers (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSN).

Hi, 

I signed up to GoPayment following your instructions, however, the SSN is an obligatory requirement. (see screenshot attached). What can I do in order to accept online payment with credit card without SNN?

Allow me to clarify things out for you about signing up GoPayment and how QuickBooks Payments works. 

 

With the mandate of IRS, it’s important to have a Taxpayer Identification Number or Social Security Number on file. However, since you don't have SSN, I recommend contacting our Merchant Services Team. They can guide and provide options on how to handle the specific situation you have.

I'd like to take care of your concern myself. However, only our Payments Support team can provide options so you can set up successfully. They have the necessary tools to help you settle this task. 


I recommend contacting them once more and share with them that you’re unable to proceed with the process. This way, they can look for the best course of action to get this completed.


Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Type in/click Talk to a human.
  3. Enter your concern.
  4. Select I need a human until you see a Get help from a human option.
  5. Choose to Get a callback.


You can check this video tutorial on how to set up QuickBooks Payments and how you can connect it to your QuickBooks Online account. This way, customers can pay for their invoices online.

As Per Melio - "In order to request payment via Melio, you would need to do so on Melio - and not through QBO. Bill Pay powered by Melio only syncs with the Expenses page and bills, it does not sync with Invoices." 

 

Can you please tell me I can verify payments by using my Admin's SSN? instead of the Owner? 

 

Will you accept the ITIN of an Owner if he does not have SSN?

Support team says you must have an SSN or you can not use direct deposit. I called yesterday and was on the phone for 2 hours and was told for desktop no SSN then you are not able to do use direct deposit. Sorry it is a Federal mandate. This mandate and problem was obviously not thought about.

I got the same answer yesterday for Desktop. No SSN then you can't use direct deposit for payroll either. I don't want to just add an SSN in order for payroll depositing to work just in case when the person goes to file their taxes they get a letter and fines from the IRS because they haven't reported this business they have. Yet don't have?! This mandate was obviously not thought through

I have the same problem except it’s for Quickbooks Payments and Go Payment. Just spent two hours on the phone and was hung up on 3 times by Quickbooks employees who don’t know what an ITIN is.
