How do I change the margins on the invoice layout? I want the form to print lower on the paper

Hi there, @pete16.

I'd be happy to help you change the page margins of your invoice layout. You can make the invoice print it lower on the paper by resetting the margins. Let me guide you how:

  1. At the top menu, go the Gear icon and select Custom Form Styles.
  2. Locate the invoice template you’d like to modify then click Edit.
  3. Go to the Design tab.
  4. Scroll down and click on Edit print settings.
  5. Adjust the Page margins
  6. Hit Done to save the changes.

Once done, you can click on Preview PDF button after your changes to see how it would look like on the actual invoice. If not, you can go back to the settings and make manual adjustments.

Additionally, you can use the following link to set up printing alignment for your invoice and other sales forms: Print sales forms.

For additional information on how to change the look of your invoices, like how to set one of your other custom templates as the default and personalize your email message, refer to this article: Customize your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that I'm just a post away if there is anything else you need about QuickBooks Online. I'd be happy to help.

How do I change the margins on the invoice layout? I want the form to print lower on the paper

I can only choose a value greater than 0.5" from the top for the page margin. BUT if I choose fit to window envelope (which does not fit an envelope) it works with a super tiny spacing from the top. Unfortunately this setting gives not enough space from the top.

Why can't I choose for example 0.2"/0.3" and make it fit to the envelopes?

The top margin in sales form should be between 0.5" and 3.2", @JD93.

The option to adjust this to 0.2" or 0.3" is currently unavailable. Also, the Fit printed form with paystub in window envelope option is a predefined setting that will disable the ability to change the page margins. For more info, you may open this article: Print forms for window envelopes

You'll want to send a product suggestion by clicking the Gear icon and then Feedback. We'd love to hear your idea since many of our updates come from customer suggestions.

Hello, Disatisfied.

The Gear icon is for the QuickBooks Online version. If you're using that platform, it's located at the top-right corner of the screen. After locating it, follow the steps provided by MaryGraceS in setting up your printing preferences.

  3. Click the Align button.
  4. Select the template, then fine tune your alignment settings.
  5. Once done, click OK.

How do I change the margins on the invoice layout? I want the form to print lower on the paper

I'm using QBO Essentials. I don't have a "Custom Forms Style". How do I change the margins on the invoice layout?

Hello, Neighborhood.

I have just the steps to help you get the Custom Forms Style option back in your QuickBooks Online menu.

It looks like you're using the new layout for the sales form in your QuickBooks Online company. The new layout doesn't use the styles from the Custom Form Styles menu, so this option is removed.

To get the option back, you'll want to switch to the old layout. Here's how to do it:

  1. Click the + New button, then select Invoice.
  2. On the invoice screen, click the Old layout button (located on the top right part of the page).
  3. On the confirmation popup, click Leave
  4. Proceed with the prompts to switch to the old layout.

After switching, the Custom Forms Style option will reappear on the Gear icon menu.
