How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

My invoice page does not have the "old layout" option. I need the old layout so I can mail my customers invoices that look like what In have been sending them for years.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

We understand the convenience of having the option to go back to the old invoice layout, ejwaltonac. One of the updates made in the program is the invoice format. Since you prefer the old layout, please allow me to share the steps to submit a feature request to switch back.

We value your thoughts about the new invoice layout in QuickBooks Online. However, please know that we're unable to go back to the old format if you don't see an option at the moment, specifically if you have the Simple Start subscription. For more detailed information, please visit these links:

While this feature is unavailable, I encourage you to submit feedback requests to our product developers. Rest assured that they will review and consider it for future updates depending on the number of users' requests. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Additionally, we've got these articles to help you review the recorded sales transactions and how to personalize your sales forms inside the program:

I don't understand by QB does this, stop changing things. I swear the engineers are changing things around for job security! You are making work miserable, stop changing things! Go back to how it was before the Sept 2023 update. WE HATE THE NEW QUICKBOOKS. - from everybody.

Absolutely ridiculous with this change.  It's nothing for the better, just more confusing.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

Why is your answer to your customers that they just have to "deal with it" when they clearly are not happy with what you're doing? My invoices were customized to reflect my business brand, including colors, and now I'm stuck with the light blue garbage you've "deemed" necessary for everyone? What is up with that? How does this change help anyone? Business people are busy and do not have time to constantly try to figure out how to deal with the unnecessary changes Intuit decides to make. It's frustrating and certainly does not lead me to recommend your product to anyone.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

Hi,

I changed the layout to the new one, but I don't like it.

I thought I could change it back, but couldn't find the 'old layout' button on my quickbooks online.

And I don't have 'custom form styles' in the gear button.

Help.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

I understand the importance of going back to the old invoice layout in QuickBooks Online (QBO), ahjvnck. I'm here to share insights about this.

At this time, our product experts are currently in the process of enhancing the new invoice layout to continue rolling out the new invoice experience to some customers and getting feedback in QuickBooks. Thus, this rollout update will gradually change into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

If you're using QBO Essential and Simple Start, the option to go back to the old invoicing experience is unavailable. However, if you're using QBO Plus and Advanced, you can opt-in until you migrate.

If the custom form style option is missing from the Gear icon, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses.

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once logged in, try to run payroll again. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.

I've added this article for more details about the new updates in invoices layout in QBO, you can click on this link: See what's new with estimates and invoices in QBO.

Don't hesitate to reply anytime if you still have questions or clarifications about the new invoice layout. I'm more than happy to assist you. Take care, and have a great day ahead!

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

It's just really frustrating that it doesn't show the invoice it creates and it doesn't offer the same options, like having shipping as a separate listing. Unless it was already in an invoice I'm viewing, I do not have that option. I'm not sure why this is something your designers think is good for customers. It's frustrating and causes me to spend more time doing something that used to be simple. But then that's the same thing that happened with printing checks. Why on earth does it take so many screens and then preview just to print a check? I think maybe your designers are looking for ways to make it seem like they're "giving customers more value" when in fact they're just contributing to their stress and frustration.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

It's not only a matter of "not liking" the "NEW" invoice layout and graphics the NEW and improved has some defective coding that is not integrating properly with other platforms - for example WIX - therefore our entire invoice system has been getting synchronization errors from the QBO Connector.

And QBO support staff have only recently, February 2024, been allowed to recognize that they got a bug in the software.

Not happy.

why tf do you even need to change the layout?  It is annoying and not necessary.  Took me weeks to go through their very confusing interface.  Anyone have a different invoicing program they are using that is easier to design?

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, ReSolveKim.

I can certainly understand how an ability to change to the old format of invoicing could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera icon.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

Months later this has just happened to me again: the new/terrible format is now in effect for my invoices and I'm unable to change back to the correct/old invoices that are preferred. What is going on with Intuit? I bet the popularity for the Google Search Term "best alternatives to Quickbooks Online" skyrockets everytime Intuit pulls a stunt like this.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

I know that the recent updates to the program could have an impact on your business progress, @jdishner. However, please know that product enhancements were made due to customer's past experiences with classic invoicing.

Developers have made changes to the form's design to enhance the invoicing experience for both new and existing customers. These updates aim to make navigation easier and more user-friendly.

This change is currently happening. On April 24th, roughly 70k users of QuickBooks Online Simple Start and Essentials (May 6th for Plus and Advanced) will be migrated to the new layout with no option to switch back. When the migration is completed, the old layout will be deprecated before the end of May 2024.

With that said, I recommend submitting feedback to our product developers to share your thoughts and suggestions about the change. Here's how:

  1. Open the Invoice form.
  2. Next, select the Feedback icon located at the upper-right part of the page.
  3. From there, enter your thoughts and suggestions about the new layout,
  4. When done, click Submit feedback.

Rest assured that your data in the classic view will remain accessible and won't be impacted by the change.

For reference, feel free to read this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Also, here's a handy resource I attached for you to use as a guide when recording customer payments: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

We provide printed invoices to our customers and do not accept payments via Quickbooks (simply becuase QB takes way too big of a cut). With the new format all of our printed invoices have a "pay invoice" button, even though there is no way to pay the invoice and it's paper. This does not look professional and is tacky. Is there a way to take the "pay invoice" button off the invoices since we have turned off QB payments?

I am very frustrated with the new invoice format and before you tell me to submit feedback, yes, I have, a dozen times.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

Hello there, HDM2.

Let's configure your settings so your printed invoices don't display a Pay invoice button.

It's possible that the Pay Invoice button appears on your invoices if you've set up your account to accept payments in QuickBooks. Let's open an invoice and ensure that all payment methods are turned off.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation panel, click Sales.
  2. Go to the Invoices tab, then locate an invoice. Click Edit. You can also create a new invoice for this.
  3. Click Manage. Then, head to the Payment options section.
  4. Turn off all accepted payment methods.
  5. Click Print and download to preview a PDF file of the invoice.

After following the steps above, the invoice shouldn't display a Pay invoice button.

For further information on personalizing sales forms to display desired content, please refer to this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Come back to this post if you have further concerns about managing and customizing your invoices in QuickBooks. I'll be right here ready to assist you.

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

Thanks for getting back to the thread, @HDM2.

I'll be sure to provide information and troubleshooting steps to remove the pay invoice button when you in the print invoice screen.

Let's ensure perform the basic troubleshooting steps to rectify the issue.

First, you'll want to restart your browser. Then, try opening your account in a private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it fixes the issues, go back to the regular browser and clear the cache of your normal browser. Doing this will eliminate outdated files or data that cause system issues and glitches when using the program. Otherwise, you can use another supported browser. It might be that your current browser has temporary issues while accessing QuickBooks sites.

If you're done with the browser troubleshooting process and the issue persists, I encourage you to contact our Technical Support Team so they can check your account setup and provide a resolution to your concern. Also, they can check if there are any reported issues about the matter and have the ability to create an investigation ticket if needed.

Here's how:

  1. On your company file, go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Let's Talk.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us:

  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

You can refer to this article for more details about the support schedule: QuickBooks Online Support.

I'll be leaving these articles for future reference in managing your invoices in QuickBooks:

How do I go back to the old invoice layout?

This change has completely disrupted our business. I spent 30 mins chatting with someone from quickbooks to be told there is NO way to go back to the old layout. I now have no choice to either purchase new envelopes (trash the 2500 we have left), use the new layout which doesn't work well with returning payments and perforated paper or manually change 699 invoices to the design I originally used that WORKED. I have already submitted feedback, lots. This is ridiculous and I am beginning to look for alternatives to quickbooks.
