How is it legal to be charged a fee for something I did not sign up for? I was charged for instant deposit but have never signed up for it.

Hello there. I'm here to provide insight into the charge fee that was charged for an instant deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO) that you did not sign up for.

The reason for these charges on instant deposit is that there is an option in QuickBooks Online (QBO) where you can choose and use a specific customer payments feature under instant deposit. This feature may incur a fee, which can typically be seen during the sign-up process or in the terms and conditions.

If you're sure that you didn't sign up for the instant deposit feature, I recommend reviewing your account settings and transaction history. The charge may have been a result of a misunderstanding or an error.

To address this concern, I recommend contacting our Payments Support so that our payments team will be able to review your subscription and investigate this matter.

Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, select Help (?)
  2. Choose the Search tab.
  3. At the bottom of your screen, click Contact Us.
  4. Type your concern. Then click Continue
  5. You may choose CallbackAppointment, or Chat as your way to connect with us.
  6. Kindly fill out the provided field such as your First nameLast nameEmail address, and Phone number.
  7. Depending on what you choose as your way to connect with us, click CallbackSchedule appointment, or Chat.

I DID NOT sign up for instant deposit.  There is no misunderstanding.  First, my funds were held without explanation.  Then, I was told they'd be released.  Then I did not receive the full amount and was told it was because of a fee for instant deposit. This is simply wrong

I understand the impression you're feeling right now, seakcs and

xtremerider954.

Let me provide information on instant deposit and how to turn it off.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), here are the instances where an instant deposit fee may apply:

  • The fee is an additional 1% (capped at $10) for bank transfer (ACH) payments, applicable to both instant and standard speed deposits.
  • Another user may have requested an instant deposit for processing your customer payments.
  • Scheduled eligible payments in your available balance will be instantly deposited as they run automatically.

To disable it, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Click the Payments tab and go to the Deposit Speed section.
  4. Select Change next to Scheduled instant deposits.
  5. Remove the check for all the marked days and leave All the days Off.
  6. Hit Save schedule.

I DO NOT have scheduled payments nor do I have any other users that use my account.  This seems to be stepping around the issue that this was done without me setting it up or agreeing to it. I did not make this mistake.  Quickbooks wrongly took this fee and needs to return my money immediately.

My response to this is the same as before.  I DID NOT sign up for instant deposit.  I DID NOT approve it. I am the only user who makes any changes to the account.  I did not and do not have scheduled payments.  This fee was taken wrongfully and needs to be return to me immediately

This happened to me as well. I have absolutely no need for instant funding. My deposit account is well funded. I have never used instant deposit and I never will. I just noticed that instant deposit has been turned on for 3 months on my account, and I certainly never authorized this! If Quickbooks doesn't fix this we should consider a class action. Hi, was this ever resolved? I just discovered the exact same issue and absolutely never would have turned on instant deposit - due to fees. Will also be taking further steps, with evidence of this repeated issue.

I would feel the same way if I were in the same case, NRH Business. I'll provide information about the instant deposit and will route you in the right direction to further investigate the charges or fees mentioned.

Instant Deposit is an additional service in QuickBooks Payments, subject to eligibility criteria. Once eligible, you'll see this option, but it does not mean it will automatically be selected or set.

Since you did not select the instant deposit option and received fees or charges, I recommend contacting our payment support. They possess the necessary security protocols to access your account details, which is beyond the scope of what can be done here in the Community space.

In the meantime, we can turn off the scheduling of instant deposits for future transactions. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Click the Payments tab and go to the Deposit Speed section.
  3. Select Change next to Scheduled instant deposits.
  4. Remove the check for all the marked days and leave All the days Off.
  5. Hit Save schedule.

Routing you to our designated support will get this sorted out. Our expert team is well-equipped to handle any payment-related queries or concerns you may have. The workaround will guarantee the removal of scheduled instant deposits in future transactions. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to assist you.

Hi, same issue and was told by Quickbooks customer support that they will only refund my subscription payment. Has anyone received any real help from Quickbooks?

Has this happened to anyone else

This just happened to me as well!! I'm sorry it happened to you.  They charged me over $2000 until I realized this was happening to me.  The girl on the phone made it seem like I was crazy, and this had never happened before.  If anyone does a class action I'm there,  Thank you for sharing
