How to assign edited accounts to projects.

An account was initially created as an asset account and later changed to income account. An invoice had been raised into the asset account. Now the account is changed to income account, how can I assign invoive lines to projects such that the lines show on project profitability?

Thanks.

How to assign edited accounts to projects.

Welcome to the Community, @oladipupo.

Let me share some information about assigning invoice lines in QuickBooks Online.

The data showing from the Project profitability report will depend on the transactions under the specific project (see screenshot below). If you're trying to assign the details to show in the report, you'll need to ensure the name selected from the invoice is the project name.

To edit an invoice and assign it to the project, here's how:

  1. On the left panel, hover your cursor to Sales.
  2. Select Invoices.
  3. Open the invoice.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow under Customer.
  5. Select the project.
  6. Hit Save and close.
  7. Open the project.
  8. Go to the Transactions tab.
  9. Check the invoice.
  10. Run the Project profitability report.

Here are some helpful references that you can check out about handling projects, like how it works, as well as some information about the feature in QuickBooks:

On the other hand, if you’re referring to something else, let me know so I can provide the most accurate resolution.
