How to go back to old layout

Let me guide you on switching from the new layout to the old one, @ameagle.

If you still have the option to switch to the old layout, you can follow these steps for guidance:

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Under the Customers column, select Invoice.
    1.png
  3. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the Old Layout button.
    2.png
  4. Read the prompt that will pop up on your screen.
  5. Once you're ready, click the Leave button.
    3.png

However, for some users, there's no option to switch from the new to the old layout. If you are one of the users who don't have this option, I recommend sending feedback to our Developer Team. This way, they can see your request and consider it for the next program update.

Here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click the Gear icon on the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
  4. Enter a brief description of your feature request.
  5. Once you're ready, press Send.

Moreover, I will leave these articles if you want to know how to manage your invoice payments and other sales forms:

If you have other questions or concerns about switching layouts in QBO, feel free to send us a reply. We will gladly assist you further in this.

Hi, @WEALMEIDA2019.

I recognize the importance of you to revert to the old layout of QuickBooks Online. However, certain users are unable to switch back to the old layout. If you're one of these users, I recommend you send feedback to our Developer Team. This will allow them to review your request and potentially include it in the next program update.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top right corner of your screen.
  2. From there, select Feedback under the Profile column.
  3. Please provide a summary of the feature you want to request.
  4. Click Send, once you are ready.

Please let me know if you have more questions about this or anything else QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

actually, you're not 'always here to help'

Suggesting that we leave feedback as a 'lets hope we can enact change' option, is pitiful. Im looking for another option than QB due to this latest bit of crappy customer service

I understand your experience may not have met your expectations. We are committed to providing the best service and continuously enhancing our customer support.

We acknowledge that changes in the layout may not always resonate with every user. However, know that these adjustments are made with the intention of benefiting the majority if not all of our users. Our goal is to enhance the overall user experience and ensure that the platform is as user-friendly as possible for the majority of our users. We appreciate your understanding and are open to further discussing any specific concerns you may have regarding the changes.

How to go back to old layout

How do I permanently switch to the OLD layout? Every time I log in it's back to the crummy new one.

The new layout is infinitely worse and I have no urge to use it.I also don't understand why you'd force this on customers whose business you'd presumably want to keep.

How to go back to old layout

We always ensure we can provide the best feature when managing invoices and we understand that the new invoice layout differs from the usual way of creating your invoice transactions, wareagle612.

Recently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) underwent an update that requires customers to switch from the old invoice experience to the new one. However, only selected users can switch between different invoice styles. If you're using QBO Simple Start, switching back to the old layout is no longer available. If not, we can switch back to the old invoice experience and revert your invoice to the old layout by following the steps below:

  1. On the left navigational bar, click the +New button.
  2. Choose Invoice.
  3. On the top-right corner, click the Old layout button.
  4. Tap the Switch layout button.
  5. Enter or select the necessary details, and then the click Leave and submit button.

See the screenshot below for your reference:

Once done, we can also get back to your old invoice template. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. Find your template.
  4. Click the dropdown ▼ in the Action column.
  5. Tap Make default. You'll see (default) displayed by the default template name.

You can check out this article for more details: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. If you can't switch between different invoice styles, please send feedback directly to our Product Engineers so they can look into it and add this feature in future updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the upper right and select Feedback under Profile.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. You can also attach a screenshot or file to combine them all.
  3. Click Next.
  4. You'll be provided a list of suggested help articles related to your comments. You can read through them or choose Skip and send message.
  5. Select the appropriate category from the drop-down menu.
  6. Tap Send message.

How to go back to old layout

I have now selected 'old layout' 5x in a row. Every time I open an invoice it is the new layout.

I said in my original post i know how to make it show the old layout, i want to know why it is not staying on the old layout.

Can you answer THIS question?

How to go back to old layout

Hello there, wareagle612.

I understand the need to adjust to the changes made in the invoicing experience. Let me provide more information about the ability to switch back to the old layout.

The product engineers have changed the invoice and estimate layouts to better suit our customers' needs and to make it more user-friendly. Since December 11, 2023, Simple Start and Essentials users have been migrated to the new invoice experience with no option to opt-out. This means the ability to return to the old experience is no longer available.

Currently, some Plus and Advanced users can still return to the old layout. However, the option to have it permanently is unavailable. I suggest sending feedback to our product development team. They'll review your comments about this matter and might consider adding it to future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback under the Profile column.
  3. Enter your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

You can track feature requests here: QBO Feature Requests.

For more info on the new estimate and invoice layout, check out this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

You may want to personalize your sales forms to add specific info. Here's a guide on how: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have further concerns about the new layout. I'll be around to answer your questions and help you out. Keep safe!

How to go back to old layout

This has broken invoices for me. A majority of what we invoice is time. The time we bill is not contiguous. We use your time tracking software to make it easier and simple to invoice. For a given customer and billing period I might have 100 time entries. The old invoice allowed me to group the time and add it as a single line item. I now have to individually add 100 items and then go back and manually total them and combine them. WTH. That is not a matter of preference that is broken. What a complete mess.

My feedback to the Developers is revert the change until you fix this.

"However, know that these adjustments are made with the intention of benefiting the majority if not all of our users. "

So you're saying the developers think the users are too stupid to use the old invoicing system? Because this is "simplified" to the point that it is no longer usable.

"For some users" - there's no way to revert to the old layout? You mean I accidentally clicked on one button, and Quickbooks has 100% completely changed the formatting of all of my invoice forms going back 10+ years, and from now on, forever — and you won't let me do it?

Was that part of the benefit of your consistent monthly 15% fee increases, every year?

I'm going to immediately look into leaving the platform.

So there's your feedback.

The upgrade was a terrible idea to be honest and it made operating with Quick books alot harder. You really dropped the ball guys.

Having the feature to revert back to the old templates only available to Plus users just goes to show you this is just another way for Quickbooks to get money out of business owners.

Ugh! How do I go back. There is no option for me on my screen (although it seems from reading the other comments that clicking classic isn't helping anyway). QB sent all my set up invoices (that were not meant for my clients to receive yet) to them prematurely! SUCH A BUMMER and really makes my company look unprofessional and unorganized.  I'm so disappointed in this. I truly accidentally clicked the button that switched my invoice layout. Are you really saying there is no way to switch back after making one small little unintentional mistake?  How is this real? Please explain QB!

The new layout is simply terrible. It has slowed the progress of my business considerably. Of course the only way to switch back is to provide "feedback". Has quickbooks actually helped anyone in this thread? Will be switching to Mitchell soon. Getting tired of random updates without my consent and having to try to learn a whole new system in the middle of my work days. Why fix something that has been working fine for years? Ridiculous...

How to go back to old layout

Just yesterday our layout was changed again and without notice. It has slowed down the way we create invoices and it is annoying. I was able to change back to old layout a few months ago but now have not been able to get it fixed. Hopefully we get it resolved soon!

How to go back to old layout

I understand that some adjustments may be required for these changes, evergreengrowersinc99. Let me provide some information about reverting to the old invoice layout.

QuickBooks Online has recently introduced updates for the new estimate and invoice experience to make them more user-friendly and improve the back-end technology they're built in. Starting April 24, users of Simple Start and Essential plans have been migrated to the new interface with no option to switch back to the old layout.

With this, I suggest sending feedback about these changes. Our product development team will review your suggestion and may consider it for future updates.

Here's how to send feedback:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top-right corner.
  2. Select Feedback under the Profile column.
  3. Enter your product suggestions.
  4. Press Next to submit.

You can check out these articles for more information on the new estimate and invoice layout:

For future reference, here's a guide on generating reports to get summarized information about your estimates and invoices: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

Come back to this post if you have any other concerns about invoicing in the new experience. I'll be around to address them. Keep safe.

How to go back to old layout

I just figured this out - so basically the old layout is available in the "Advanced" Subscription for $200/month. I just upgraded from my basic $30/month account to a now $200/month "Advanced" plan to use a simple and older layout. How is this possible!?!? This absolutely makes no sense and on the surface seems like an unethical way to charge people more money for something that actually works!

Thank you for posting this. Yep! And then to add insult to injury, their customer service team lies to users and tells us that it's just users being difficult and resistant to change. Everything Intuit does is based on profit over customer experience. They could not care less. I bet they laugh about it behind the scenes.
