Trying out Quickbooks Online Plus. Where do I set up "Ship Via" methods? Such as UPS Ground, UPS 2-Day, FedEx Ground, DHL, USPS, etc.
I've started testing out some other stuff, but now I am trying to enter an Invoice and would like the "Ship Via" field to have a drop down box to select.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Currently, in QBO "Ship via" is an open text field so there is no way to create drop-down fields for shipping type.
But, it's a great idea. I know many users are asking for this feature. Send them your feedback > Gear (upper right corner) > your company > FEEDBACK.

July 24, 2020 and still no way to do this. :-(
Hi!
I have been trying to figure this out and it looks like I finally did :)
If I am understanding you correctly- It looks like you are wanting to set-up options in a drop down list for via ship info. Here are the steps I did and it worked.
List
Customer & Vendor Profile List
Ship Via List
(Create new shipping method or deactivate shipping method)
Hope this helps!

Someone needs to moderate these posts.
There is no Customer and Vendor Profile List in QuickBooks Online - that list only exists in QuickBooks Desktop
Let me provide some clarification on your concern and help you from there, @HaidenT.
Please know that the Customer and Vendor Profile List are available in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can run the Customer and Vendor Contact List report to get the information you need for your customer and vendor. Here's how:
I'm adding this article to learn which reports are available for your version of QBO: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.
I'm always here to listen if you have other concerns with QuickBooks Online. You're welcome to post again or leave a reply below.
"Customer and Vendor Profile List" is NOT the same thing as the "Customer and Vendor Contact List."
The "Customer and Vendor Profile Lists" are a QuickBooks Desktop feature that is not in QuickBooks Online.
I am an Advanced Certified ProAdvisor for Online and Desktop - take a look at the attached screenshot from QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions.
Yes, you’re correct, @HaidenT.
The Customer and Vendor Profile Lists are different from the vendor contact list in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The previous agent was referring to the Vendor Contact list report that you can pull up in QBO.
I appreciate that you provide this information here in the Community. It will help other users to know it’s differences. Thank you and have a good day!
I think this needs to be clarified a bit.
The original question has somehow been forgotten.
It was, essentially, "is there a drop-down list of shipping methods in QuickBooks Online?"
Before I posted to this thread another person responded to the original question by stating that this could be done by going to the Customer and Vendor Profiles List and adding entries to the Ship Via list.
My first post here made the observation that "someone needs to moderate these posts" because that "answer" was completely incorrect because the Customer and Vendor Profile Lists are a feature of QuickBooks desktop, not QuickBooks Online.
An Intuit employee then promptly replied that I was incorrect because there are customer and vendor contact lists in QuickBooks Online. Hopefully everyone now realizes that the "Customer and Vendor Profile Lists" are not "Customer and Vendor Contact Lists." Moreover, this Intuit Employee's "clarification," even it were remotely on target, has nothing to do with the original question since the QuickBooks Online Customer and Vendor contact lists will not give you a "drop-down list of shipping methods."
Thankfully another Intuit employee chimed in to acknowledge that I was, in fact, correct that the Customer and Vendor Profile Lists are QuickBooks Desktop feature only.
However, this still doesn't really get anything accomplished regarding the original question.
There was no way to have a drop-down list of shipping methods in QuickBooks Online two years ago when this question was originally asked, and there still is no way to get it now two years later.
I may be wrong, but don't hold your breathe waiting for Intuit to add this (even though it seems like it would be super simple and easy to do). I think this functionality is very, very low on the list of priorities for changes to QuickBooks Online, if it is even on the list at all.
My opinion, but QuickBooks Online lacks numerous features that product-focused businesses really need to manage the activities that sales of products involve. It appears that Intuit has made a conscious decision to let those kind of features be provided by add-on apps with QuickBooks Online serving as a back-end accounting system.
Has anything been done with this yet? How do we know customers UPS/FedEx Account numbers? Moving from Desktop to Quickbooks.
Hi, @eeikb. I appreciate you for joining the thread.
As of posting, the drop-down list for the Ship-via field in QuickBooks Online (QBO) isn't available yet, and you'll need to enter the info manually when creating invoices. However, I can provide further guidance on storing shipping carrier account numbers.
Once you've toggled on Shipping from your sales settings, you can manually enter shipping information within your customer's invoice. However, storing the shipping carrier account numbers isn't directly available within the customer's invoice. You can consider utilizing custom fields, or notes features from the Customer page info as a workaround. Here's how:
Alternatively, you can consider looking for a third-party app to integrate with QBO that supports multiple shipping methods and can help you save time copying and pasting customer details into your shipping system. You can find one from the apps page within QBO.
For future reference, let me add this article to customize how your printed invoices appear: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
We'll be here in the Community if you have further questions about entering shipping information in invoices in QBO. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care.
