This is not the kind of experience that we want you to have, alexbcook.
Are you trying to sort a quick report for an expense account by amount? If so, my colleague @VivienJ provided detailed steps on how to do this in this thread.
If the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting the support team. This way, they can pull up your account and investigate the root cause of this problem.
Here's how:

Absolute Garbage! Intuit should be embarrassed that they produce such a garbage product that doesn't have basic functionality like sorting an amount. All their resources are spent on price increases.
absolutely!!
this company is a dinosaur.
everybody should be fired starting from the head.
unbelievable.
feels like there is not one single brain function in this company and they are waiting for another company to take over.
This forum is a joke as well.
there is not one that cares about the complaints.
Still not solved.
I came here hoping to find a solution at the end of the forum discussion - unfortunately the problem still exists.
Quickbooks!!! Are you just trying to figure out a way of packaging "sorting by amount" in to a paid "feature"? Is that why after almost 3 years something as basic as this is still not available?
This will NEVER EVER be solved. This is all you need to know about QB is that they are not an accounting solution. The entire accounting system founded 7000 years ago is based on one molecule and that is the "amount" and Quickbooks could care less about giving you information on this key piece of information.
Just for context, you can sort a report on 23 different columns. Most of these columns are completely useless and will never, ever ever be used. But the number 1 most important column you can't sort by.
Their solution, use a different company's software, like Excel, so you can export, open and sort. Then manually identify each line, search and find it to edit/address it.
We've been asking for this basic critical feature for over 10 years.
My recommendation is to never use a company that is fundamentally incompetent.
How is it possible that this is still an issue? How hard can it be to make it sortable by Amount? I can't believe this is missing. HUGE waste of time. Is this something that you have to be above QBO Advanced to get?
I understand important this feature could be for you, @accountant copy failed.
The ability to automatically sort reports by amount is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). As a workaround, you may export the report to Excel and customize it there. To do this, simply click on the Export icon and select Export to Excel.
That's going to get you back on track. I will also send our Product Development Team feedback so that they have a chance to look at the issue and fix it for you.
You may also be heard by sending it directly to them as a suggestion. In that way, they'll be aware of the changes we both want to see in the future.
Here's how:
Here's more information on how to run reports in QuickBooks Online. Also, a following article on how to customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

This is absurb. I'm a CPA and work in many different clients' books. I drill down into balance sheet and income statement detail. It displays as a "Transaction Report". I can sort on stupid stuff, like AP Paid, AR Paid, Check Printed, Qty, Rate and many others EXCEPT the fricking AMOUNT! Yes, I know I can download it but it takes time and time is money in our business. Along with date and name, the Amount is the most important field in a transaction. This is yet another example of an egregious failure of Intuit to listen and deliver on what its customers want.
QB mods - please do us all a favor by not responding to my post, unless this is fixed. No need to regurgitate all of your previous responses.
