You'll need to specify how the settlements work
But to be honest if you are an OTR owner/operator you really need specialized software, there is more than just settlements to contend with in prep for taxes. Google OTR or trucker software.
How do you "specify" how the settlements work? My setup is an Owner/Operator. My company is an S-corp. The company i drive with pays my company. I am an employee of my company. The company i drive with provides a settlement every week with a payout for each load listed as well as deductions (fuel, insurance, registration, etc.). I am not an OTR driver, but a local port driver. I need to know how to enter the settlement into Quickbooks and itemize expenses that are on the settlement, such as fuel and insurance and the likes.
I need this answered as well
I found a great solution to this on YouTube. Type in “You Drive U” for the YouTube account, in the playlist, go to “Quickbooks for trucking”. The video is called “How to Receive payments on an invoice and deposit the funds”. Hopes this helps anyone out there with this problem about inputting driver settlements.
Hello Ryan,
I am also an Owner/Operator. Have you found the answer to your question. I am trying to figure out how to enter Settlements from LandStar in Quickbooks. If you have found the answer, I would really appreciate your guidance. I have researched all day and can't find the solution.
Thanks so much,
Sylvester

I saw your post about the YouTube video on how to enter settlements. I watched the same one and tried it but I was not able to get it to balance. I gave up. I was wondering if you were aware to get it to work. Maybe I made a mistake somewhere? It seemed to make sense. I have tried 3 different companies that claim to know what they are doing but have not had any luck finding the right person. I am very familiar with Quickbooks but was stumped with how to enter our weekly statements.
