Hi fuelconserve-gma!

It's always great to have a statement showing the forwarded balance from the previous period and the total money owed in the current period. I'll guide you to create one.

  1. Click on +New.
  2. Select Statement.
  3. By default, the Balance Forward is selected in the Statement Type.
  4. Change the date range.
  5. In the Customer balance status, select All.
  6. Specify the date range.
  7. Click Print Preview to view all statements.

There are three types of statements in QuickBooks Online, and each of them shows your customers' transactions differently. Here's an article for your reference: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

It's pleasure sharing this information with you, fuelconserve-gma. If you need more help, let me know in the comment section below. Take care and have a good one!

I can't figure out how to create a statement for a customer, showing the customer how much they owe me.

QuickBooks is missing the ability to create a standard statement.  This is a MUST!

I need QuickBooks to generate a monthly statement for my customers exactly like a credit card company provides to their customers!  Balance from prior month, payments, credits, and new invoices with a new balance!

Customer DEMAND this and it is absurd to think I should do it by hand!  Also, most customers choose to pay "on account", not by invoice.  This must be fixed!

Thanks for reaching back out here in the Community, @fuelconserve-gma.

I can see the benefit of being able to generate a monthly statement to customers for your business. Let me share some insights about the statements that you can pull up in QuickBooks Online.

At this time, the system only creates 3 types of statements. These are the following:

  • Balance Forward: Lists invoices and payments with outstanding balances for a specific date range.
  • Open Item: Lists all open, unpaid invoices from the last 365 days.
  • Transaction Statement: Lists all transactions for the selected date range.

The ability to create a statement with the balance from the prior month, payments, credits, and new invoices with a new balance isn't available.

I encourage you to send this preference to our developers so this will be assessed. They are constantly considering new features to be added to the system. This way, we can cope with our customer's needs.

To do that:

  1. Click on the Gear icon from the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback and click Next

I'm also adding these resources attached about the different reports that you can pull up in QBO and on how to customize them based on your desired data:

Know that I got your back if you have any concerns with QBO. I'll make sure you're all set. Keep safe!
