I created a Service but incorrectly entered in the Sales Price. How do I go back and make changes retroactively to previous invoices

I then invoiced a customer by basically manually overriding. I want to fix the price so my time entries trigger this overall invoice properly

Hello there, timb-branhamadvi.

I'm here to help you fix the price, so you don't need to override the invoices manually.

You'll need to modify the sales price of your service item by going to the Sales menu and selecting Products and services. Let me walk you through how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and select Products and services.
  2. Locate the Service item and click Edit under the Action column.
  3. From the Product/Service information page, edit the Sales price/rate.
  4. Click Save and close.

Please note that any changes made are not retroactive to the transactions you've already created, especially for invoices paid and sent. The update only applies to future invoices.

Here are some articles that contain information about changing, adding, editing, and deleting the product and service item for additional guide:

Not sure this was helpful. The net of what I took away is you cannot retroactively change back previous items. My point was, on the invoicing, I created manual overrides so the individual time transactions should have been able to have been changed to reflect the corrected price. This seems like something Quickbooks should consider for advanced users.

Let me take care of your concern, @timb-branhamadvi. I know how important it is to retroactively change your invoices, so I'm glad you reached out to clarify this.

Changing your cost price and selling price isn't retroactive. It only affects future transactions.
