I just migrated from QB Desktop to Online. I have over 300 Chart of Accounts in my Desktop version. Online says I am using 2 of 250, what is correct?

Does Online start adding 250 more from what I already have?  Or will it tell me I have to upgrade to the next level.

Congratulations on successfully migrating from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online (QBO)francis-unclebea

I've got some inputs about how many Chart of Accounts (COA) can be added in QBO. The maximum usage limit you can create is 250 accounts for QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus subscribers.

Looking at your statement, you have already created two (2) accounts. Therefore, you can still add 248 more aside from the imported (from the Desktop company file) or default (created by QBO automatically) ones.

If you've reached the 250 maximum number, you can upgrade to the Advanced plan to add more accounts. I'm adding these articles for future reference.

Keep me posted if you want more insights about the Chart of Accounts in QBO. I'd be glad to give you a guide or two to ensure you're able to bring in your important data. Have a good one.

I am confused - I have the same situation.  Am I allowed to have my 303 accounts that I imported from desktop to online AND create an additional 250 new accounts in I wanted?  So technically I could have 553 accounts?
