I just need to know how to change which bank account -incoming- payments from clients I invoice will be deposited to. Thanks!

I see you want to change which bank account the incoming payments from your clients go to. I've got you! Let me walk you through the process.

First, let me remind you of a few things so we can avoid confusion while you're at it. If you update your account after 3 PM PT, your payment(s) will be deposited into the new account on the following business day. In case you have already processed payments before 3 PM PT, they will be credited to your old account.

In addition, QuickBooks can't deposit payments into these types of accounts. These will cause issues, rejections, or delays:

  • PayPal
  • Lines of credit
  • Mutual fund accounts
  • Government accounts
  • Credit card checks
  • Routing numbers used for wire transfers
  • Paper draft accounts
  • Any non-transactional account

Then here's how to switch bank accounts for the incoming payments from your clients:

Update standard deposit account

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks mobile app, QuickBooks Money, or GoPayment in a web browser.
  2. Go to Settings and then select Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Payments tab. In the Deposits section next to Standard Deposits, click Change Bank.
  4. Select Add new bank account.
  5. Enter the account and routing number of the bank account you want to change, and then select Save.
  6. Find the new bank account from the list and click Verify.
  7. Type in the two small amounts we have deposited to the new bank account.
  8. Review the bank account info and complete your request.

Update instant deposit account

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then Account and Settings.
  2. Select Payments and go to Deposit Accounts.
  3. Pick Change to edit your instant deposit info.
  4. Choose Save and then Done.

For detailed information, refer to this article: Change the deposit bank account for QuickBooks Payments.

I'm adding this article you can use in the future: Find out when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments.

By following these steps, you should be able to change the bank account where incoming payments from clients will be deposited. If you encounter any difficulties, don't hesitate to post again in the forum. Have a great day!
