Hey @cfrohberg1

i am very glad to see, you are really want to migrate from online?

If yes

then

Migrating from the QuickBooks Desktop version to QuickBooks Online involves several steps to ensure a smooth transition of your financial data. Here's a general guide on how to do it:

  1. Prepare your QuickBooks Desktop data:

    • Before starting the migration process, ensure your QuickBooks Desktop data is up to date and accurate. This includes reconciling accounts, resolving any discrepancies, and cleaning up your data.
  2. Choose a migration method:

    • QuickBooks offers different methods to migrate your data to QuickBooks Online:
      • Built-in Conversion Tool: QuickBooks provides a built-in conversion tool that allows you to transfer your data directly from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. This tool typically handles most of the data migration process automatically.
      • Manual Export/Import: Alternatively, you can manually export data from QuickBooks Desktop and import it into QuickBooks Online. This method might be suitable if you have specific preferences or need to customize the migration process.
  3. Verify system requirements:

    • Ensure that your system meets the requirements for migrating data to QuickBooks Online. This includes having a stable internet connection and supported browsers.
  4. Backup your QuickBooks Desktop data:

  5. Access QuickBooks Online:

    • Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account or create a new account if you haven't already. Make sure you have the necessary permissions to import data and set up your company.
  6. Start the migration process:

    • If using the built-in conversion tool:
      • Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
      • Navigate to the Company menu and select "Export QuickBooks Desktop Data."
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to download and run the conversion tool.
      • The tool will guide you through the process of uploading your QuickBooks Desktop data to QuickBooks Online.
    • If using manual export/import:
      • Export your data from QuickBooks Desktop into a compatible format such as Excel or CSV files.
      • Log in to QuickBooks Online and navigate to the Import Data section.
      • Follow the prompts to import your data files, mapping the fields as needed.
  7. Review and reconcile data:

    • Once the migration is complete, review your data in QuickBooks Online to ensure everything transferred correctly. Reconcile accounts and verify balances to ensure accuracy.
  8. Additional setup and customization:

    • After migrating your data, you may need to set up additional preferences, accounts, and features in QuickBooks Online to match your workflow and business needs.
  9. Training and support:

    • Provide training to users who will be working with QuickBooks Online to familiarize them with the new platform. Utilize QuickBooks support resources or seek assistance from a QuickBooks ProAdvisor if needed.

Thanks for getting in touch with us, @cfrohberg1. Let me help you set up your print settings to ensure your checks align and print correctly in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please know that the print configuration settings in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) differ in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Currently, we're unable to configure the print settings for invoices and statements in QBO. However, I can show you how to set up your printer for printing checks.

First, choose your check type. Please refer to these steps:

  1. Go to + New and select Print Checks.
  2. Click Print Setup.
  3. Select your check type: Voucher or Standard.
  4. Select View Preview and print sample. Then, Print.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to finish printing your sample check.
  6. Put the sample print under a blank check. See if they line up correctly.

Once done, install or update Adobe Reader and fine-tune the check alignment. For more detailed process, visit this article: Configure your print settings for printing checks in QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, you can customize your invoices to personalize the layout of your sales forms.

Additionally, QBO offers templates for recurring transactions, including invoices and checks, so you won't have to enter them manually at a scheduled time.

Keep in touch if you have other questions about printing. The Community team is here to lend you a helping hand. Take care.

Yeah I’ve done that.  Due to not matching my preprinted checks I have to print one at a time and cannot print batches. It does not recognize a two thirds page check with voucher which is a standard check with voucher and not a stupid double voucher print. Rediculous you don’t use what we all had in desktop and bring the same capabilities into online. Guess you just want to sell your version of compatible checks and invoices. Total crap.

Yeah, didn’t really have a choice did we? Payroll was going away unless you went online.  Desktop was being unsupported.  Total money grab. Looking for a different program now.

You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus + Enhanced Payroll and they will support it until 2027. How many employee do you need to manage their payroll?
