Join nowI'm here to share details about reopening the previous month's reconciled account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @tnt31. This way, you'll be guided on the things you need to take care of the issue.
I can see the importance of undoing the previous month's reconciliation. However, there isn't a direct option to reopen a closed reconciliation in QBO. You can either manually unreconciled each transaction or invite your accountant to undo the reconciliation for you.
When you opt to manually unreconciled each transaction to undo the reconciliation, you can follow these step-by-step guide:
I've attached a screenshot below that shows the fourth to sixth steps.
After that, you can reconcile the transactions again to keep your account updated.
Also, I'd recommend checking out this article to learn more about the reconciliation workflow and how to fix issues during the process: Reconciliation in QuickBooks.
Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other reconciliation concerns, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
Thank you for your response, however this did not resolve my problem. I need to be able to open up the month of December 2020 so that I can delete an auto generated payroll tax entry that was posted twice. I want to make sure that I remove this from December 2020 so that my Financial Statements for the year ending 2020 are correct.
Best,
I appreciate you for getting back to us, tnt31.
As my colleague shared above, we'll have to manually un-reconcile the previous transactions. Then, select the item that you want o delete.
Just a heads up, deleting a reconciled transaction will cause a discrepancy on the account. That being said, I'd recommend reaching out to your accountant so you'll be guided accordingly.
Afterward, you'll have to reconcile the account again. Feel free to save this article for more information: Reconciliation in QuickBooks.
I'll be around if you need help. Keep safe!
