I've checked and there isn't a case reported about the Payee drop-down not listing information, scand.
It could be a browser-related issue. You can clear cache and cookies to boost the web page. Some stored data on your browser can impact the data being transmitted, thus causing some unusual responses.
Follow the steps to clear cache for your browser:
As an alternative, you can use other supported browsers when accessing QuickBooks. If you want to see if your current browser is compatible, use the browser health checkup tool.
After performing those troubleshooting steps above, you can go back and sign in to your account. Then, enter a check or expense in QuickBooks.
Let me know if you need anything else with QuickBooks Online. I'll be around to help ensure you're able to see the list of payee when you create a transaction.

This just started with me and now when I use the dropdown for either my clients or the products and services in an invoice I don't get any selection at all -- just +ADD NEW. Same goes with chart of accounts. So I tried "adding new" and still nothing shows up in the drop-down. All the data is still there, just not at all from dropdown. I use chrome with no problem until today. Today I also tried Firefox and cleared my cache, downloads and browsing history, restarted a bunch of times, even tried signing in as a different user....nothing! I can't get work done this way!
I understand how this function is causing a delay in your daily business transactions, nillabop.
Since you're already cleared the browser's history and used other browsers, let me get you to our QuickBooks Live Support Team. They can create a case under your company account and forward it to our Product Team.
Our Product Team will investigate why you aren't able to see a list when using the drop-down feature. And, once they fix it, they'll send you updates via email.
Here's how to contact them:
