To do this, you'll want to sign in to your QuickBooks Payments account. In the Processing Tools drop list, you will see an option to Reverse a Transaction. Then, you'll want to find the one that you need to refund and enter the amount. Click Submit and follow the on-screen instructions until you can email or print the receipt.
The bank that issued your customer's credit card controls this timing. The credit could arrive within 2-4 business days or not until the end of your customer's billing cycle.

No this does not work. If you reverse the charge they get a full refund, there is no way to enter a different amount. You get a screen that says to hit "continue" if you want to reverse the full amount, otherwise it is just "cancel". Fortunately the customer gave me her credit card info, so after inadvertently reversing the full amount, I then charged her for the difference. I find this all very frustrating.
