Thanks for reaching out to us, bobby9.
I'm here to share some insights about invoice formats.
Currently, an invoice format dedicated to the automotive industry is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround we can add custom fields to your invoices through the Account and Settings. Before diving in, we'll have to consider that we can only add three custom fields.
Here's how to do it:
- Click the Gear icon.
- Select Account and Settings.
- Choose Sales.
- In the Sales form content section, click the Pencil icon.
- Enter the VIN, Unit number, and PO number in the Custom fields section.
- Hit Save to complete the process.
If you want to show this information per line item, you can add in the DESCRIPTION column upon creating the invoice.
I've added an article that will help you in personalizing and adding the info that matters the most to your business in your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online. It also contains information about importing invoice templates (if you wish to import one).
Do you have other questions in mind? Please leave them in the comment section, and I'll make sure to get back to you as quickly as I can.
