Currently, such an option to customize invoice template for Projects style as you want. The only workaround they have in Sales Form is to use one of the available custom fields.
You can enable this feature from the Gear sales settings.
Gear at the top icon > Your Company > Account and Settings > Sales form content > Name Custom fields and Select Internal and Public > Save.
Yes, that is what I am currently doing, but it would be nice to have the project name (ie. Sub-Customer) show up on invoice templates and reports. It would help several clients, as it would eliminate having to type the project name each time and it would create consistent results.
Thanks,
Elaine

If you select the project as the Customer/Project, then surely it will show
QBO has really improved in the past year or so! I am a LONGTIME desktop user and I have to admit it took me some time to embrace QBO - having used it since it was introduced. I now have to say that I actually prefer QBO due to the ease of working with clients and the automated features like bank feeds. Thank you for your feedback! I hope this post will help to improve a great product!
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, this is something that will need to be added to the functionality of QBO. It is not currently possible to use the Project Name field on the Invoice template - this is what I would like to do.
I will keep checking, as I believe that it will be added in the future. I can't be the only person out there that can see how this will help with invoicing.
Thanks,
Elaine
Thank you for your idea!
There is currently no way to show the Project Name on the Invoice, I am currently using the Shipping Address field, but it would be nicer to have the actual Project name show up as a field that can be displayed on the invoice. This functionality has been around a long time in the desktop version....
Thanks,
Elaine
Thank you for getting back to us, ecp_accounting.
It's a great idea to use the Shipping Address field to show a project name on your invoice. The same thing goes to vpcontroller's suggestion which is use the Custom Fields.
We truly appreciate all the insights (yours and of the other Community members) shared in this thread. Submitting a feature request is a good step which we're also thankful of. The feature you've shared is very significant to us.
What I can do for now is to also submit the same request on my end to show urgency and make it easily noticed by our engineers. This way, they'll know that this is something that you want to be added on our next product release.
Please know that you can always go back to the QuickBooks Community if you have other questions. We're always here to help.
Thank you so much for getting back to me! I appreciate your help getting this feature added to a future release! It will really improve the product for my construction clients!

Would be very helpful for me too, thanks for asking this and submitting the request.

Love the streamline process of online, but missing major desktop features like pre-populated project names, project numbers, and pending invoices.
Thank you for your post
Thanks for joining this conversation, forge.
First and foremost, I want you to know that your voice matters.
I'm happy that you've enjoyed the streamline process in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I have to agree that the QuickBooks Desktop features you've mentioned should also be added in QBO.
We appreciate you for sharing your experience. Rest assured, we've acknowledged your opinion and requests.
The Community always has your back, so please let me know if you have any questions. Have a good one.
Every time I create a new invoice there is a box to type in the project name, and it shows up on the invoice when I email/print. Do your invoices not have that box at all?
Unfortunately, though, the project names do not show up on statements, only on individual invoices. If that is what you are wanting (project names on statements) then I am right there with you. I need statements that show the invoice number and project name together.
Hello there, Shelly4.
I appreciate you for sharing your workaround on how you're able to show project names on individual invoices. However, the option to show project names on statements is not yet available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
We'll be sure to take note of this product feature opportunities for future enhancements. Once we receive some progress or enhancement about this feature, I'll make sure to inform you by updating this thread.
In the meantime, you may want to look for a third party applications that can help customize statements in QBO: https://apps.intuit.com.
If there's anything else I can do to help you with downloading transactions in QuickBooks, just let me know and I'd be happy to assist.
This data was available in Feb 2019. I created an invoice for a single customer with whom I have several projects. More than one project was being billed on a single invoice, and the invoice AUTOMATICALLY showed breakdown by Customer and Project Name. But it looks like the template was changed after this, and I have not been able to duplicate the results.
Hi, KCE.
Thanks for looping in this thread. I'm here to help and ensure that your questions about projects are addressed accordingly.
For me to be able to provide you with the right issue resolution, could you please tell me where exactly in QuickBooks you're trying to assign multiple projects to an invoice?
If this transaction is from online banking, then you can still add multiple projects to a single invoice.

We are in a similar position and have created a feature request discussion in order to get this feature added promptly. If you or anyone else would like this feature - please respond so that QBO prioritise this.
Thanks,
You requested this the last year, and there is not a resolution yet. It will be great that instead of having a Billing and Shipping we can change to Billing and Project info, or something like that. Another thing that we would like to have is that the phone may show, there is many things we are doing manually because QB doesn't have the option.
I hope they hear the requests.
Hello plitz,
Thank you for dropping by here in the Community. Allow me to help share further information about the invoice fields in QuickBooks Desktop.
I understand the importance of having the fields you need on invoices depending on your preferences. While this is still unavailable, you can utilize the custom fields from the template customization as suggested by other users.
Here's how:
Additionally, to show the phone number on the invoice, please refer to the sample screenshot below:

Still related to Projects, is there a way to send a separate statement related to a particular project only?
