My 2nd and 4th quarters taxes (SS and941) were never sent to the IRS from QuickBooks. Is Internal Accounting Services a sub-contractor of yours, legitimate from India?

Let's get to the bottom of your payroll tax concern, @brucefrance.

Before we start, I'd like to verify where did you have your payroll tax forms and payments processed, in the US of India? Did the Internal Accounting Services you've contacted is from India? Any additional details will help me provide accurate information and resolutions as soon as possible.

The Internal Accounting Services is an accounting/business consulting firm that provides financial and taxation services. They aren't Intuit's sub-contractor. If you're connected with them to do payroll tax preparation and filings using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, you'll have to verify with them directly why your 2nd and 4th quarter taxes (SS and 941) weren't sent to the IRS.

Then, you must check the status of your payroll tax payments and forms whether they're e-filed/paid appropriately. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select the Payroll tax tab.
  3. Under Taxes view your tax payments.
  4. Under Forms, select the type of form (i.e., 941 through the Quarterly Forms section) you'd like to view. 82.PNG

However, If you're not affiliated with the Internal Accounting Services to do your payroll tax preparation and filings using QBO Payroll, you'll have to manually file your 2nd and 4th quarter taxes (SS and 941) directly to the IRS. Then, manually record them by performing the following steps:

  1. Go to the Taxes menu.
  2. Select the Payroll tax tab.
  3. Under Taxes, click the Pay Taxes button.
  4. Find the liability you want to pay (i.e., Federal Taxes (941/944)), then select the Record Payment link beside the amount. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. 84.PNG
  5. Go back to the Payroll tax page and select the Quarterly Forms hyperlink under the Forms section to view, archive, or print your form (i.e., Form 941).
  6. Choose the form and select the appropriate period.
  7. Click either the View or Archive button and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. 85.PNG

To learn more about paying or filing state and federal payroll taxes, I'd recommend checking out this article: Pay and file payroll taxes online.

Additionally, there are several payroll reports in QBO to view useful information about your business and employees. For the complete list and each of their definition, you can check out this article: Run payroll reports. It also includes steps about customizing, printing, and marking them as your favorite.

Should you need anything else or have other payroll concerns, please let me know. I'm always around to help you out. Take care, and wishing you continues success.
