My customer list is missing all but two customers. How to get them back?

I've logged out and back in, still only two customers are showing up.  I don't want to have to start over inputting all my customers.  Help!

My customer list is missing all but two customers. How to get them back?

Hi, jyoung-mcmservic.

I'm here to ensure you can find your missing customers from the contact list in QuickBooks Online.

The first thing we can do is to check if those customers were on the Inactive list. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and choose Customers.
  2. From there, click the Gear icon on the right side.
  3. Check the Include Inactive box.

Once verified that the customers are there, you can reactivate them by clicking Make Active from the Action column.

Alternatively, you can pull up a Customer Contact List report to view all your customers.

If the issue persists, we can try performing some troubleshooting steps to determine if this is just a browser-related issue. We can start by logging into your account using a private browser. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts to open an incognito window depending on your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

If it works, you can return to your original browser and clear its cache, not the cookies to start fresh. You can also use another supported, up-to-date browser that is already installed to narrow down the results.

Moreover, you may also want to learn how to send statements to show customers summaries of their invoices, payments, credits, and balances: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

Please know that I'm just one post away if you still have concerns with managing your customers. I'm here to lend a helping hand. Take care always.

Hello, @Yj7.

This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience. I may haven't personally experienced what you've gone through but know that you have the right to be heard, and I'm here listening to you.

In addition, I acknowledge the significance of addressing and resolving the concerns related to your customers' lists. I recommend reaching out to Customer Support if you are still encountering difficulties. By doing so, they can conduct a more thorough investigation and promptly provide you with the most suitable solution.

Here's how to contact support:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to the Help (?) menu.
  3. Choose either tab to get started:
  • Assistant: In the field, type in Talk to a human. If you decide you need more help, type once again Talk to a human.
  • Search: Hit Contact us at the bottom part. Click on Start a chat or Get a callback from the next available expert.

Please note their support hours to make sure they're available for assistance.
