My invoice numbers changed to the date, and I cannot correct it. I've tried entering numbers saveing and then opening a new invoice and it is the date with month spelled.

Weird issue I've used the help feature and gone through steps to correct but it reverts back. halp?

Help has arrived, rtrmainframe.

I've got some troubleshooting steps for you to perform to get around this issue with your invoice fields in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Let's try accessing your QBO account through an incognito window to rule out the possibility of having a browser-related issue. Thus, it causes discrepancies that affect the view and performance of your QuickBooks, specifically your invoice fields.

You can use these keyboard shortcut keys to open it in all supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

Try working on your invoices again. If it works, you can return to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. You can also use another supported, up-to-date browser.

For customizing your sales transactions, this article can give you some handy details: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you need clarification about managing your invoices. I'll be standing by for your response. Stay safe.

Hello hi! Great information. It seems to have worked, I will keep you posted. I had selected and saved new invoice numbers the first time this occurred. I am worried it will come back again! I'll reach out if this isn't the end of the story. Many thanks! ..... you stay safe too.
