Non inventory item not showing up when entering a sales receipt

i have entered and used a product as a non inventory item. now when i try to enter it into a sales receipt it wants me to add it as if it wasnt in the product list. however it is

That's indeed weird, Bgraff.

 

I can share some troubleshooting steps that can help fix this issue.

 

Most of the time, unusual behaviors are caused by accumulated cache and cookies in the browser. To rule this out, you can access your QuickBooks account through a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't save site data, cache, and cookies. Check out the shortcut keys below:

 

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + N for Chrome
  • Press Command + Shift + N for Safari

Once done, click the + New button then create a dummy sales receipt. If you're able to enter the non-inventory item without any issues, close the incognito window then go back to your normal browser. After that, you'll have to clear the cache to remove the accumulated junk files and improve the program performance.

 

Alternatively, you can also switch to other supported browsers to further isolate the issue.

this didnt help

i am trying to deduct the cash from the sales receipt and my cash item shows up in the item list but

not when i try to enter it into the sales receipt

Thanks for following up with us. I appreciate you taking the time to try the suggested steps by my colleague above.

 

To offer another solution for this concern, I recommend checking that the item hasn't accidentally been made inactive. In some cases, we have seen users who have accidentally marked an item as inactive and posed the same concerns of not being able to enter them into sales receipts. I've included some steps below to check that the item isn't inactive. 

 

  1. Go to the Sales menu on the left panel. 
  2. Click the Product and Services tab. 
  3. Choose the Inactive on the Funnel icon drop-down list. 
  4. Tap the Apply button.
  5. Search for your item. If you see the item, hit the Make active button. 

 

However, if you don't see your item in the inactive list, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. Our tech support agents have the tools to review your account in a secure environment and will investigate this issue of its odd behavior.
