QB POS Financial Exchange error 3140

I get the following error when Running Financial Exchange > Update QuickBooks Desktop in QBPOS.

"Status Code: 3140. Status Message: There is an invalid reference to QuickBooks AR Account "800000D0-1340291665" in the ReceivedPayment. QuickBooks error message: The account for this transaction must be of type Accounts Receivable"

I have done the following:

  1. In QBPOS.
  1. From the File menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select Company.
  3. Under Financial, click Accounts.
  4. Check the Basic and Advanced tabs. Ensure the accounts are mapped correctly, then select Save. Please know that an account name in brackets ([ ]) indicates that the account isn’t mapped.
  5. Run financial exchange

The accounts linked in the Advanced tab of Company>Financial>Accounts>Advanced tab are Accounts Receivable type. That said there are several (5) GL accounts listed as type Accounts Receivable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate you initiating to review your Preferences, @lloving.

I can see how important it is to your business to be able to run Financial Exchange report. I’ll provide further troubleshooting steps to help fix the errors you encountered.

The Status code 3140: There is an invalid reference to QuickBooks AR Account "###### - #########" happens if accounts are not mapped properly in Point of Sale. The error you received specifies the incorrect setting. Therefore, you’ll need to make sure that you’re A/R account is mapped correctly.

Since you’ve already gone through your Preferences, it’s possible that you’re experiencing data integrity issue. To fix this, let’s start with verifying and rebuilding your data. This process scans your company files for errors or data damage.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the File then Utilities. Select Verify Data.
  2. Wait for it to load.
  3. Click File again, Utilities, then Rebuild Data.
  4. Press OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

I'm happy to hear that rebuilding the data fixed the issue and you're now able to run the Financial Exchange with no error, lloving.

We can recommend this solution to other customers who are also getting the error.

I'd like to add up some information about running the financial exchange. Do you know that there are two ways to perform this process?

You can do the As part of End of Day procedure or Manual exchange. The Initiate a Financial Exchange section in this article will share the steps: Financial Exchange Overview.

Don't forget to create a new post if you have other QuickBooks concerns. We're always open to helping you.

I rebuilt QBDT data as you said. Verified the GL account types were correct. Also updated QBDT.

Re-ran Connection to QBDT and all progress bars were green.

Success, thank you for your help.

Running the Exchange as part of the End Of Day function essentially makes the Financial Connection automatic. Love it.
