QBAR for QB Enterprise 2024

Recently updated to QB Enterprise 2024 from QB Enterprise 2021. When running the Advanced Reporting tool, I get the message that I'm running an outdated version of Advanced Reporting v2.9.1. When I go to "Update Quickbooks Desktop", there are no additional updates pending. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks for getting back to us, @Gambit. Let me step in and help you update the Advanced Reporting version in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Based on the screenshot you provided above, it appears that you are using the 2.9.1 version of Advanced Reporting, which is currently outdated and prompting the error message.

To rectify this, update the feature to the latest 3.2.1 version. To do that, uninstall and reinstall it from the Add or Remove Programs page in Windows. I recommend reaching out to your IT professional for the detailed step-by-step guide. Once done, open your QBDT. Go to Reports and click Advanced Reporting. Doing so will download and install the latest version it can find.

If the issue persists, uninstall the Advanced Reporting module and perform a clean reinstall of QBDT. Please use this article for your reference: Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're still experiencing the error, I recommend contacting our customer support team so they can determine the root cause of the issue, and open an investigation if necessary. To do that:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click QuickBooks Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Provide a brief description of your concern, and click Continue.
  4. Log in to your Intuit account, select Continue, then Continue with my account.
  5. Enter the single-use code you received in your email and hit Continue.
  6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.

Additionally, you can export reports as Excel workbooks if you want to analyze them out of QuickBooks and have the flexibility to include information relevant to your business needs.

Please don't hesitate to swing by the Community whenever you have follow-up concerns about the Advanced Reporting in QBDT. I'll be more than glad to provide additional help. Take care, and have a nice day ahead.

Hey there, Gambit.

Thanks for turning to the Community for support. I want to make sure you're able to use the Advanced Reporting feature in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

In this instance, I recommend downloading the update again to see if the release number advances. Here's how:

1. Go to Help and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Select Update Now, then Get Updates.
3. Close and reopen QuickBooks to install the update again.

If that doesn't do the trick, the next solution would be to end task on the following processes:

1. Close QuickBooks.
2. Right-click on the taskbar, then select Task Manager.
3. Under the details tab, look for the following background processes to select and End task for each.
    a. QBW32.exe or QBW.exe
    b. QBCFMonitorService.exe
    c. qbupdate.exe
    d. QBDBMgr.exe or QBDBMgrN.exe
    e. QBMapi32.exe
4. Right-click on the QuickBooks shortcut and select Run as administrator.
5. Run the update again.

The following article provides additional info about updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release

Please give this a try and let me know how things look afterward. I'll be here if you need assistance with anything else.

I followed your directions and I got the same results. However, I did learn that the Advanced Reporting works with my 2 other company files. It's my main company file that has the issue. Do you have another suggestion?

Thanks for clarifying your concern, @Gambit. Let me provide another suggestion to help you access the Advanced Reporting feature in QuickBooks Desktop.

Since you already followed the steps provided above and still don't work on your main company file, I recommend syncing your license data. This way, you can access the Advanced Reporting feature and ensure that all changes made to your data will update in a secure and standard manner.

Before doing so, make sure that you log in to your account as an admin and update your software. After installing the update, you can restart your computer. Next, you can follow the steps below to sync your license data.

  1. Go to the Help menu, then select Manage My License.
  2. Select Sync Data License Online.

Once the process completes, you can start the installation and extract the data for the reports you want to access.

Moreover, you can also verify and rebuild your data to detect any damaged data in your company file and fix them. It also allows your QuickBooks software to refresh and update the data inside the company file. Before proceeding, secure to back up your data to ensure a copy is available for future reference and safeguarding.

Additionally, check out this article to know more about the Advance Reporting feature in QuickBooks: QuickBooks Advanced Reporting (QBAR) FAQ.

Syncing Data was successful but did not fix the issue. Additionally, I verified the data, and no issues were found.

Again, Advanced Reporting works for the company files "B" & "C", but not company file "A".

Hello, Gambit. Thank you for sharing the screenshot with us. We appreciate your effort in providing us with visual information to help us understand and resolve any issues or concerns you may have.

The message you receive a prompt in QuickBooks Desktop suggesting an upgrade to the Advanced Reporting feature typically means that a newer feature version is available. This upgrade will provide you with access to all the latest features, improvements, bug fixes, and security updates that have been introduced in the newest version. By upgrading, you can ensure that you have the most up-to-date and comprehensive version of the Advanced Reporting feature, which will enhance your experience and provide you with more accurate and detailed reports.

I recommend upgrading your Company A to the latest version of Advanced Reporting as soon as possible to take full advantage of the feature.

First, let's update QuickBooks to the latest release. But If you are updating a non-hosted version of QuickBooks, it is recommended that you log in as a Windows administrator first. This will ensure that you have the necessary permissions to successfully complete the upgrade process and avoid any issues or errors. By logging in as a Windows admin, you can also ensure that the upgrade process runs smoothly and that any necessary system changes or updates can be made without interruption. So, be sure to log in as a Windows admin before updating your non-hosted version of QuickBooks Enterprise.

  1. Go to Downloads & Updates.
  2. From the Select Product dropdown, press QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
  3. From the Select Version dropdown, choose the Enterprise version or year you use.
  4. Tap Search.
  5. Choose Get the latest updates, then save the file to download the update.
  6. When the download is done, double-click to install the update. You may need to restart Windows after the installation finishes.

Next, Sync your license data online.

  1. Go to the QuickBooks Help menu, then tap Manage My License.
  2. Choose Sync Data License Online.

Lastly, start the installation and extract the data for the reports. To start the installation, go to the QuickBooks Reports menu and select Advanced Reporting.

Once you've updated your QuickBooks Desktop software and are still experiencing an issue, it's essential to take the necessary steps to resolve it. One of the best ways to do this is by using the Verify/Rebuild tool.

The Verify/Rebuild tool is a powerful tool designed to find and fix any corrupted data within your company file. The Verify tool checks for data problems, while the Rebuild tool attempts to fix them. Additionally, the process allows your QuickBooks software to refresh the data inside the company file, which can often resolve issues that have been occurring.

Before running the Verify/Rebuild tool, it's essential to create a backup copy of your company file. This will ensure you can restore your data to its previous state if necessary. It's also important to note that running the Verify/Rebuild tool can take some time, depending on the size of your company file. You can also visit this link for additional troubleshooting steps: Tool Hub.

I'm currently running the latest version, Intuit QB's Enterprise Solutions: Contractor 24.0 Release R3P (64-bit).

When I search for additional updates through, Help: Update QuickBooks Desktop: Nothing New Downloaded.

The license has been synced and the data verified.

Ding, ding! We're making progress. Add/ removing the Advanced Reporting was easy and the newly installed version is the 3.3.1

Now...

"Have you updated any QB transactions since you last used Advanced Reporting?" [Update Now] or [Skip]

I select [Update Now] because we haven't used QBAR in about 5 years

Then I get the following message..."Sorry, Advanced Reporting couldn't update your report"
