1099 NEC printer alignment problem

I'm using QB Desktop 2020.  When I print my 1099 NEC's the alignment is off, but when I go to Printer setup to fix it, Quickbooks crashes.  It looks like some other people are having the same problem.  Any solutions out there?

1099 NEC printer alignment problem

Let me share some information on what to do when QuickBooks crashes, @JS12345.

May I know if you're getting a specific error code or message when your company files crash? Any information you can supply will assist us in narrowing down our options.

There are a few possible reasons for the unexpected behavior or performance issues with QuickBooks Desktop.

Here are some:

  • QuickBooks is not updated.
  • The program does not meet the minimum system requirements.
  • Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file.
  • Corruption on your hard drive.
  • Damaged program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation.
  • Damaged Windows operating system.

To get around this, let's use the QuickBooks Diagnostic Tool to find and solve the problem automatically.

Here's how:

  • Download the  QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool.
  • Save the file to your local Desktop.
  • Close any open programs and run the QBInstall Tool.
  • Reboot the computer after running the tool to ensure the components are updated.

Once done, try printing 1099 forms again and see if it works this time. However, if you're getting the same issue, I'd recommend following the remaining solution in this article: QuickBooks Desktop won't open, has stopped working, or not responding.

1099 NEC printer alignment problem

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.  I tried running the Diagnostic tool and restarting my computer, but the problem is still there.  I get an Unrecoverable Error message (I've sent in a few reports) and the code at the bottom is 17773 33155.  I don't really want to mail out 1099's that are printed so messily, so I hope we can fix this.

Thanks

Also, I can print a sample Check or Bill Payment Stub no problem, it only crashes when I try to print a Sample 1099

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've tried to get rid of the issue, @JS12345.

A QuickBooks unrecoverable error occurs when you're trying to open QuickBooks Desktop or while working on it. Let's try another troubleshooting step to get rid of these errors and get back to work. Ensure to create a backup of your company file before proceeding with the process.

Solution 1:Identify how many users are affected by using different login credentials to open the same company file. If the error only happens in one specific user, that user login credentials might be damaged. Recreate the damaged user. Please note that if there are no other users that can access your company file, we can proceed to solution 2.

Solution 2: Suppress your QuickBooks Desktop

1. Press and hold the Ctrl key.

2. Double-click your QuickBooks program icon.

3. Hold the Ctrl key until the No Company Open window shows.

4. Select the desired company file from the No Company Open window.

5. Press and hold the Alt key, then select Open.

6. If you are prompted for your log-in information, release the Alt key, then enter your user name and password.

7. Important: If you are not prompted for your user name and password, do not release the Alt key.

8. Press and hold the Alt key, then select OK. Do not release the Alt key until your file is completely open.

9. Note: QuickBooks will display a blank screen. If you can highlight a QuickBooks menu by just hovering your pointer to it, your company file is completely open.

If the problem continues, please check out the unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps for additional solutions to fix the errors.

I'm also adding this unrecoverable error in QuickBooks Desktop for additional reference and guide.

Please let me know how the steps work. I want to make sure everything is taken care of for you.

1099 NEC printer alignment problem

Hi there, JS12345.

Thank you for coming back to the thread to add further details and for performing the steps shared above. With this, I'll ensure to provide another solution to ensure you'll be able to achieve your goal of printing 1099 NEC.

To start with, I suggest downloading and installing the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This helps fix common errors and you'll need to close QuickBooks to use the tool hub. You'll have to use Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit for the best experience.

Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then, save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and approve the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install completes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

If you're unable to find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program. Once done, run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool in the Tool Hub. Please follow the steps below.

  1. From the QuickBooks Tool Hub, choose Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.
  3. Attempt to print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

If the issue persists, I reccomend opening this article to see the additional steps to fix the issue and start the following Solution 2: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

If the problem continues to occur, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. That way, they'll be able to investigate the cause of the problem.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to view steps on how you can resolve issues with incorrect amounts on 1099s: Fix missing contractors or wrong amounts on 1099s.

I'm just one click away if you need a hand with handling tax or any QBO related. I'll be here to ensure your success. You have a good one.
