Is it possible to completely turn off sales tax based on location?
Is it possible to turn off messaging that keeps wanting me to pay with Mastercard. I do not understand why QBO forces you to use features you do not want.

When using the Automated Sales Tax feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO), the calculation of the sales tax amount is based on the state where you have nexus and are registered to collect sales tax, the physical address of your business and on the sales forms, the product mapping you've associated with the item you're selling, and the exemption status of your customer.

This not the answer I was looking for. I want the system to calculate sales tax. I just don't want it to automatically calculate and break it down into three different tax categories like state and county. In IL we have one take rate and one place to pay. All I want the system to do is calculate a 10% sales tax on taxable items. When I open an invoice i have to wait anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds for that stupid based on location to think.
PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION WITH A YES OR NO. CAN THIS FEATURE BE TURNED OFF WITHOUT DELETING MY TAX AGENCY?

By default, QuickBooks automatically does the sales tax calculations on your sales transactions based on location for easy and accurate filings. At the moment, there isn't an integrated way to turn off the location feature while calculating sales tax for invoices. I recommend manually creating a custom rate and use it to calculate the sales tax.

"based on location" calculation just started happening for us - around march/april 2024. Maybe an "update" with qb's?? We buy/sell items in one area - the sales tax rate should always be the same... there is no rhyme or reason for this.
i think we all just want to know why this is an issue - and when will it be resolved?

Texas -
local sales tax and state sales tax combined is 8.25.
Texas 6.25
Local 2.00
We buy and sell equipment/services/materials for projects within the "state and local sales tax region". All of our invoices should calculate the total sales tax - 8.25.
I first noticed the problem when I worked on sales tax for March - my numbers did not match the report in quickbooks (sales tax liability report). Which, needless to say, caused me another headache since the financial reports in qb's online are - well - basically useless - it took me several hours to figure out why there was a discrepancy.
I have to use spreadsheets (that I created) to do reconciliations.
I had 6 customers invoices that weren't charged the total sales tax -
4 of those customers were "pre-existing" (for lack of a better term) and the previous invoices for them had the correct sales tax.
This problem started in March -
So - it isn't an issue with "location" - it is a glitch with qb's online.
Having said all of that.
Why does qb's show a payment posted to an invoice the day the "transaction" happens - rather than the day the payment is actually deposited into the bank?
Example:
A customer goes online on 3/28/2024 to make a payment. QB's applies that payment to the invoice that same day but the money doesn't get deposited until April.

The initial deposits may take a little longer if you are using QuickBooks Online Payments as we require some time to configure your account. After the setup is complete, your payments will be credited within two business days. However, keep in mind that some banks may take more time to process the transaction.

it isn't an issue of "holds"
A customer opens our invoice - pays the invoice - and qb's processes the payment as "received" right away - but it doesn't get deposited right away - but qb's "applies" the payment RIGHT THEN.
customer goes online - pays the invoice - qb's applies the payment - that same day
however - the payment is not deposited immediately -
i'm asking why quickbooks shows a payment on an invoice - before the payment is deposited into the bank.
