Dear All,
First I would like to thank you so much for your support on this platform, everytime I face an issue I find the solution here.
In our non-profit organization, when donors donate through PayPal we receive the net amount in our bank after deduction. So to book this in a way when the donor ask for a report of his donations and can see exactly what he donate without any deductions, I split the income into:
1. Full donation amount recorded under the donor name (income).
2. A negative amount for the fees recorded under PayPal fees (expense).
What happened is, when I run a report for this donor's activities I don't see this contribution!
Is my booking wrong? Could you please advise?
Thank you!
Hello ixAmjadx,
Thank you for sharing your concerns about the donor report in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I am here to provide you with some helpful insights on this matter.
At this time, the option to generate a donor list that includes the names of donors, their contact information, and the latest contribution date is currently unavailable. However, there are two separate reports that you can run to obtain this information: the Donor Contact List and the Sales by Donor Detail report. Then, you can customize them to get the specific data you need.
Here's how:
You can also export these reports to Excel and edit the data from there. Let me show you how:

Hi Eman,
Thank you for your reply.
I already have a report that works perfectly called "Transaction List by Donor" and I can see other donors contributions.
The issue occurred when I did the split in booking the income donation between the donor (income) and the PayPal fees (expense).
Was my booking incorrect? Is there any reason why I don't see this transaction in the donor's transaction report?
Thanks!
Thanks for following up with the Community, ixAmjadxi. I appreciate your detailed information.
To properly identify if booking your income donation between a donor and PayPal fees was the incorrect thing to do, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.
Here's how it works:

No, you're doing it right. It's a bug in Quickbooks. We have the exact same issue. I hate their smug reply.
They can track the donor because it shows when you view All plus deposit. But if you enter a donation via the deposit, it does not get included in the list of donations made by the person. I wish they would just wake up to our need of having to credit the donors for ever bit they donated. What is the purpose of tracking them in deposit, but not including their deposits in the report? It's a simple request. What we do is we play whackemall... We create a donation receipt for the exact amount so we can track it, and then we also create a deposit with the split information telling it that the payment method is paypal. We then wait and exclude the information that Paypal generates. A round about way of doing things... but it's the best we can do with their inability to address our needs. God bless ya!
