Budget Report Shows Zeros

Hello,

My Bookkeeper and I are having trouble with our budgets in QuickBooks.  I have the budget module set up, but when I run the report, it shows zeros for our actual.  I tried going back in time to see if I could get a better result, but the reports show zeros from today's date through last year when our previous bookkeeper left.  This is probably very ignorant, but are we missing a process like reconciling (which we do) and that's why we're seeing zeros?  I've attached a picture of the report and I hope what I've typed makes sense.

Thank you

Hey there, @Nancy0503

It's great to see you back in the Community. Let's work together so that you're able to see numbers rather than zeros on your Budget report.

Before digging further, can you review the instructions on this guide to ensure that every step was successfully made when creating a Budget

In addition, I didn't receive your screenshot. Are you able to upload it again? If so, please provide us with any more screenshots you may have about the issue that could be helpful as well.

This will help determine the best route to get you a solution for your business. I'll be back around shortly to check in!

Hopefully the image will show up this time.  I believe I set everything up correctly, and it's the reports that are giving me trouble.  I'm wondering why the Budget vs. Actual isn't showing any amounts.  It seems like there's some process we've missed because I can see amounts from the time our previous bookkeeper was employed.

Thanks for getting back with the Community, Nancy0503.

Since your Budget vs. Actual report isn't displaying amounts properly, I'd initially recommend troubleshooting with the Verify Data utility. It identifies known issues within company files and informs users if their Rebuild Data tool needs to be utilized afterwards.

Here's how it's used:

  1. Click Window, then Close All.
  2. In your top menu bar, go to File.
  3. Choose Utilities.
  4. Select Verify Data.

In the event its results show a "Your data has lost integrity," message, this indicates there's damage in your file. You can use the Rebuild Data utility to fix it. For specific errors, there may already be a resource for them on our support site.

If it displays a "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," notification, or you've searched our help articles and didn't find any existing resources about the specific error it displayed, you'll want to try troubleshooting with our QuickBooks Tool Hub.

Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks and download a copy of the utility's most recent version, then run it.
  2. Follow along with your on-screen steps to complete installation and agree with our terms and conditions.
  3. Once it's installed, double-click its icon to open the tool hub. If you can't find your app, perform a search in Windows for "QuickBooks Tool Hub" and select the program.
  4. Access your Company File Issues tab and use the Quick Fix my file and QuickBooks File Doctor tools to troubleshoot your company file. In the event you need additional assistance, choose File Dr Help.

If your Budget vs. Actual report continues not displaying amounts properly after performing these troubleshooting steps, please update me here. I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for the reply.  I spent about two hours yesterday fixing our file with the steps that were given.  I even was assisted by a wonderful tech over the phone, but I'm still seeing zeros on the budget versus actual.  Do you have a recommendation of where to go from here?
