I want to run the budget vs actual report with just Jan and what the budget is for the year. But Quickbooks is diving it over the year, which I don't want. All I need/want it to do is have Jan and the budget for the year. How can I do that?
When you run the Budget to Actual Report for the entire year, it will show the entire year budget and the YTD actual. If you run the report for just January, you will get he January budget and actual. I do not believe there is a way to get the annual budget and the actual through a particular date, other than the date that you run the report.
My main issue is that Quickbooks is dividing all of my line items out over 12 months, which I don't want. I just want what my budget line item calls for the year compared to the actual for the month.
I think I have a solution for you. If you enter your budget as an annual budget, the Budget to Actual report splits it equal over all of the months in the year. Instead of that, you should enter your budget as a monthly budget, but put the entire annual amount of each account in the first month of the year. Then when you run a report for any month of the year, or for a range of months, you will get the entire year's budget and the actual for the month(s) that you select.
