Can a customer stop a payment on my account for services completed? How can I avoid this?

Good afternoon, @nlcoffice-nlc-fi

It's great to see a new face here in the Community!

A customer can stop a payment on you account for completed services. However, we steps on how to properly record this within your QuickBooks Online account:

  1. Click the +New button.
  2. Choose Refund Receipt.
  3. In the Refund From box, choose the same bank account where you deposited the payments from your customer.
  4. Enter the amount in the Amount column.
  5. In the Customer column, choose the customer.
  6. Press Save and close.

Feel free to come back if you have any other questions. Take care!

@Candice C   Did you really read the questions asked?

The OP never said that they were REFUNDING the customer.  They said the customer put a STOP PAYMENT on the payment they made to OP after services were provided.

@nlcoffice-nlc-fi   Sadly, there is no real way to avoid it from happening.  QB won't even back you up, no matter how much proof you give them that your customer owes you that money.

Hey there, nlcoffice-nlc-fi.

Thanks for posting your question here in the Community. I'm happy to help point you in the right direction regarding the customer payment that was stopped in your QuickBooks Online account.

In this instance I recommend reaching out to a member of the QuickBooks Payments Support Team. They will need to collect some personal info from you to take a closer look at your account. An agent will also be able to advise of the next steps to take if a customer has denied payment even after you've completed services for them. Here's how to get in touch with the team:

1. Click the Help (?) button.
2. Select either tab to get started:
  - Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  - Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    a. Start a chat with a support expert.
    b. Get a callback from the next available expert.

The following article provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: Contact Payments Support

Please feel free to drop a comment below if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help in any way that I can.
