When setting up a QuickBooks Payments account, a Social Security Number (SSN) is required, frpaintingllc.

QuickBooks Payments is designed for the US region, and including an SSN is a necessary part of the process. Otherwise, you can use a third-party application to accept payments.

To verify any other options so you can process your application using ITIN, I recommend reaching out to the Payments Support Team. This way, they can guide you on the actions you can take.

Additionally, you can visit these resources that will guide you on how to perform any QBSE tasks. Click on the topic to view more information: QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Tag my name if you have other questions about accepting payments,

@frpaintingllc22-

Are you B2B or B2C?

@Praj

If you run B2B, you can use ITIN to sign up for a free payment processor to accept cards and ACH payments for free. But it only supports QB Online and QB Desktop. If you are using QBSE or QBSP, you can use it as a stand-alone app to accept payments.

It's good to see you here again, @Praj.

I'll add more info about setting up a QuickBooks (QB) Payments account.

I agree with what my colleague @Maybelle_S shared: that SSN is a required information in setting up your QB payments account.

Furthermore, QuickBooks won't recommend using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) since it's for federal tax reporting only.

Moreover, this is only available to non-US residents who aren't eligible for U.S. employment and need identification for tax purposes.

With that in mind, I recommend contacting the IRS to verify if you're qualified for an SSN request. Otherwise, you can use a third-party application that utilizes an ITIN to set up a payment account.
