Good to see you here in the Community, rockinraerenee.
Yes, you can create a statement for one project under a parent client in QuickBooks Online. Please be reminded that the statement will show the client's total open balance regardless if you filter its date for one project.
Here's how to create a statement for one project:
To know more about how statements work in QuickBooks Online, you can refer to this article: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online. It contains information on what options you can include in your customer statements.

Hi, rockinraerenee.
Hope you're doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about creating statement for one project. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I'd be happy to help you at anytime.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
This doesn't help if you have a parent client and several projects going at the same time. How do I provide project statements?
Thanks for adding your concern to this conversation, @jagreen. I can see you want to create multiple projects for a parent customer.
As an overview, the Projects feature is intended for a customer with multiple services. Hence, creating multiple project statements for the parent customer isn't possible.
In the meantime, you can add an account summary to your customers' invoices and bill them using progress invoicing to let your customers know how much their projects will cost.
Should you have any additional comments and suggestions about using the Project feature, you can send them directly by filling up our QuickBooks Feedback form. Please know that all our suggested plans are subject to further study.
Feel free to visit and post again if you have more questions about managing your customer's projects. I'd be delighted to serve you again.
I am looking for the same thing. I have a customer and we have two large projects going for them. They are wanting to close out one project and I need to send them a statement for that project showing all open invoices (all retention still owing and current unpaid invoices) and a balance owing on that specific project. I would even settle for a customer statement that shows all projects, but AT LEAST shows which project each invoice applies to. There is no way to send a statement to a customer that they can see at a glance what is still owing on a project. QB Desktop had this functionality.
This only breaks things out by date, not by project. What do you do if you have more than one project running for the same customer at the same time and they want a statement on that single project?
I have found a workaround that may be helpful.
Go into the project, click on transactions.
Filter - all invoices or open invoices, whatever you need
Filter - date for all time, or your required date range.
This should produce the information usually included on a statement.
Then I exported to excel, gave it a title, added my logo, add/delete anything I need/don't want. (I actually opened the file in numbers not excel, but whatever you work with).
Export to PDF and email to the client.
I feel like customer statements that can be broken out by project is a vital feature that was included in Desktop, but hopefully this can help someone who needs the information right now until they get it integrated into QBO (which will probably be never, based on the fact that people have been asking for this for almost 3 years now and we've got crickets.)
Hello @sequoia,
I agree this is a vital feature that would benefit most users. I have some information regarding the Online version's capability.
Right now, the ability to provide a statement for a single project is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I recommend you continue using the workaround to acquire the information you need from a project.
It would be great to have this option in our web-based versions too. Our engineers might be working to bring this feature over to this platform in the future.
As we assess this, I encourage sending feedback about it. Here's how:
There are a few customization options for statements. Check out this article to learn more about the process in QuickBooks Online: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.

I have the same problem. I have numerous "projects" for each customer, and need to track payments etc. by project. The "Statement" feature is useless right now because it simply provides a list of all the invoice numbers for the customer. This is a very big problem for us. We are considering canceling quickbooks and getting a service that is intended for consulting companies that can track/invoice by project.
This does not create "a statement for one project under a parent client in QuickBooks Online." This creates a statement for all projects under a parent client, without identifying which projects the invoices relate to.
Welcome to the Community, gregg-cefecon-co.
I can certainly understand how an ability to generate more in-depth statements for projects could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

Good Afternoon All,
I was trying to figure out how to do this myself and found a workaround.
Run a Customer Balance Detail Report and Customize. Filter by Customer and choose the Projects you want included.
Full report on oustanding invoices by project.
Hope this helps!
Thanks @Hagelstein Consulting , your report method is good for showing a project's invoices with outstanding balances. But, what if I also want to include on the report invoices that have been issued for a project that have been paid, along with their payments received? What if I want to show the content of all invoices for a project (as some statements do)?
Hi there, drubinoff. I'm here to share the report you can run to see invoices issued for a project, including whether they are paid.
Please know that there's no direct feature to run a report that includes invoices issued for a project, but on the brighter side, we can customize and filter the Invoices and Received Payments report based on your desired criteria.
To customize and filter reports:
I've included a screenshot for visual reference.
Moreover, you have the option to memorize the reports you've customized. This way, you won't have to do the customization process again. To learn more about what you can generate, check out this article: Reports included in your subscription.
You can always reach out by tapping the reply button below. I'd be available to assist if you need further information on what report you can generate in QuickBooks Online.
