Personalizing your sales transactions is an important part of brand identity, dave-archerybows. Allow me to answer your question about managing invoice details in QuickBooks Online.
There are two main invoice template options in QBO. A 5-column template and a 7-column template, depending on the industry set up in your account.
You can follow these steps in case you need to change the industry type in QBO:
For now, there's no option to add more columns beyond the standard 5 or 7 that are provided in the templates.
However, you can use the Description column as a space to provide more context about the product you're selling. For instance, you could include details about the color, length, and weight of the item.
Aside from that, you can also rename the labels of the existing columns to better suit your business needs.
Being able to add more columns, similar to what you have in the Desktop version, would be a great addition to QBO. I'd recommend sending feedback or a feature request about this to our engineers.
Follow the steps in this article on how to send feedback from your QBO account: How Do I Submit Feedback?
By sharing your thoughts and suggestions, you can help us improve QuickBooks Online and make it an even better experience for all users.
You may also want to look for third-party apps that offer more options when it comes to invoicing. The apps in the Intuit Apps Store can be integrated with QBO for seamless data exchange.
Let me show you how to look for approved and accredited apps:

I see there is an invoice listed here that has 7 columns vs 5 on a standard invoice???
Can some at least tell me how to get 7 columns???
Thank you.
Thank you for the prompt response, @dave-archerybows.
I can see that the new invoice template for 2024 that you saw in our QuickBooks Blog hasn't been implemented yet. In the meantime, you can use the Description column for your color, length, and width.
Also, I recommend you follow the steps from my colleague jenop2 to send feedback about getting the seven columns for the invoices. Sending this suggestion to our developers can help us improve our product.
Additionally, you can look for a third-party app for your invoices that can help you add columns.

Should you have other concerns besides adding a column for your invoice, please don't hesitate to post them here in the Community space.
@dave-archerybows if you needed any more reason to not trust Quickbooks and move to another invoicing software, the admission you just received that they're knowingly using features in their advertising that are not available in the product should be enough.
I only have one employer left who has not found a better accounting option in Freshbooks, Zoho, or Wave and they're also getting real tired of paying more while Quickbooks keeps making changes that makes the lives of the bookkeepers harder.
Thanks for the feedback. I really have about had it with QB. Big push to switch us from the Desktop version to the Online Version. So I switched over last week and haven't been able to properly invoice or ship. Online version is absolute junk for my business needs.
