Hello again, @bblackmon.
Thank you for the clarification with adding line numbers to your estimates.
At this time, QuickBooks doesn't offer the feature when printing out the Estimates. I will submit feedback to our Product Development Team for them to further review and consider this soon.
For now, as a workaround you add the Line Numbers in the Description box on the estimates. Here's a screenshot as an example on the Print and Preview page:

Do we have an update on this request? It has been two years and I searched the internet found no answer. This should not be that difficult to add. The same applies to the invoices - we need to print out the line numbers on the invoices. -- Thanks!

Yes i would also like this basic feature. Especially when we are quoting for more than 20 items in one estimate, the line number is very usefeul. Please bring it up to the dev team. Thanks.

Yes, this is a basic feature. I'm pulling my hair out because Quickbooks is not doing some very simple things. This is one of them. Please add the ability to PRINT out the line items. It shows in Quickbooks on my screen, just not on the printout.

Yeah, I was looking as well to see if its possible for the line number (#1 #2 #3 etc. ) to show up on the PRINTED estimates and invoices.
Looks like its not possible yet, Its unbelievable that such a basic thing still does not exist on the online version. this is especially so important on large invoice. I think its about time to be added.
When is this feature going to become available? This would also greatly help the organization of my invoices as well.

Please make this happen in the next update. It is ridiculous that this option wasn't included in initial print functions and that it is still not updated and available!
I agree. I found this thread trying to figure out how to add line numbers to the estimate I send my clients. In the general contracting business, ie home remodel, being able to refer to a specific line on your estimate is crucial. Please advise when this simple change will be made. thanks
May 2023... has quickbooks intuit made this change yet? super important to show line numbers on estimates when communicating with clients on estimates with 200 plus line items on them (building houses)
Hello MONICA131, I understand how important to get line numbers added to QuickBooks would help you run your business seamlessly.
For now, I cannot tell a specific time when his feature will be ready. Since we've already submitted a feedback, we can follow the steps below to check the status added to your product suggestion. To check the feedback status in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can follow these steps:
You can also vote for other users' feedback items or add comments to provide more context or suggestions.
If you have more questions in the future while doing QuickBooks tasks, please post them here.
As a contractor, I totally agree.
Not sure where to find the status of the feature request based on the information you gave. Why don't you find the status and post it here.
Hello, Emerald.
I'm here to share more information about tracking feature requests.
Since we're unable to tell a specific time when a feature will be ready, we're also unable to share where you can check its status. However, you can open this page to review the new and updated features in QuickBooks: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests.
Keep me posted if you have other concerns.
So its been over 3 years of people asking about this. How can this seeming simple fix get incorporated? When do we see this being added? I literally have the most powerful program offered and i still cannot do something as simple as this.
This is literally the most basic thing, it's been requested for years, yet QB hasn't done anything about it.
Estimates Need Line Item Numbers.
It's that simple. Fix it, Quickbooks!
Absolutely ridiculous you can't print your invoice or estimate with line item numbers or the lines dividing line item numbers. You have them on the screen, why not fix it where it prints that way?? Its absurd this hasn't been addressed yet.
We appreciate you for joining the thread, scubafeet.
We understand how important it is for your company to print your invoice or estimate with line item numbers or the lines dividing line item numbers. However, this option is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We see consumer feedback as an opportunity to improve the numerous features of our products. I'd recommend giving our engineers direct feedback. They may look into this suggestion and incorporate it into future updates. Here's how:
Furthermore, you can visit this page to stay up to date on the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online. Alternatively, we can add the number to each line item's description as a workaround. This will show its order, and it'll also appear when you print the estimate or an invoice. I'm including a screenshot to show this process.
To assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.
I've got your back if you have more questions about managing your sales forms in the program. Just leave a comment below and I'll get back to you. Take care and have a great day.
