Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

Hello QB Community.  I've seen a couple of older posts with this inquiry and am not sure if QuickBooks has updated their program to accommodate this yet.  I did just spend 2 hours on the phone with customer support and was informed I should be able to do this but my QuickBooks is not allowing me to.  I am trying to create and save a memorized report where I can customize which rows are collapsed and expanded.  Every time I try to reopen the memorized report it expands rows that I have previously collapsed and saved.  My preference is not to export this to Excel.  If anyone has any feedback on this inquiry I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you!!!

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

Hi NikkiNik1,

As of the moment, the memorize feature doesn't include the collapse preference. I see how this would help, so I recommend sending feedback so our engineers will know that you want such an option.

  1. Click on Help and choose Send Feedback Online.
  2. Choose Product Suggestion and enter the details.
  3. Click Send Feedback.

If you want to check for references for QB Desktop, just visit the main support page and click More Topics.

If you have other concerns, feel free to go back to this thread.

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

You're always welcome, NikkiNik1

Many of the program's current features, as well as upcoming ones, are based on requests and feedback from users. QuickBooks also has a website where you can vote, comment on ideas, and suggest your own. To access the page, visit this link: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks.

Please know that you're always welcome to post your questions here in the Community. Rest assured, we got your back.

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

When you say ' steps provided to fix the issue' does this mean that that there now IS a way to memorise custom reports with the relevant collapse/expanded items? It really is frustrating to have the function to do this and see it on screen but not to save or even be able to even export the report in partially expanded layout.

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

Hi SussexBee,

I'd like to clarify that this is still not a feature in QB Desktop and want to encourage you to send your feedback using the steps I shared above. Keeping the collapsed or expanded section is really useful.

On the other hand, I'll tell my colleague to edit her answer when she gets back in the office.

Let me know if you have any other concerns about reports.

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

I have always been able to collapse and expand rows and it offers the feature on the page but nothing happens when I click on expand rows.  I need this and it is very frustrating

Collapse and Expand Rows in Memorized Reports?

I understand that it can be unsettling when things don’t turn out the way we hoped, MaxiPax. We can run the Verify and Rebuild utility tools to resolve this matter. Let me make it up to you by providing the steps below.

Data issues can cause features to behave unexpectedly. You can verify and rebuild your data to fix the most common issues in a company file and rebuild tool fixes.

To verify your company data:

  1. Go to Window then choose Close All.
  2. Go to File, then hit Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data.

To rebuild:

  1. From the FileUtilities, and then select Rebuild Data.
  2. QuickBooks will ask you to make a backup before it rebuilds your company file. Select OK. A backup is required before you can rebuild.
  3. Select where you want to save your backup, then OK. Don’t replace another backup file. Enter a new name in File name and click Save.
  4. Select OK when you get the message Rebuild has completed.
  5. Go to File, select Utilities then select Verify Data again to check for additional damage.

For the complete steps of the process, check out this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Furthermore, I'll provide this article that includes how to export reports to Excel from QuickBooks Desktop: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.
