Concerning response from QB support that profit and loss statements are not working correctly with QB online.

I clearly see an invoice and payment posted to the invoice, however when I run my P&L the transaction isn't included??

Hi rtl1. Something that could cause this would be whether you're using a cash or accrual basis for the report. Check out our article on Cash vs. Accrual accounting just to ensure you're using the right fit for the report you're trying to run.

If that's not the issue, leave a quick reply with a few more details and I will be happy to look into it further for you.

I'm using Cash reporting.  When I called QB support on Friday, the rep said alot of customers were calling about this issue. It's like my QB online file is corrupt and she said someone from QB would have to login to my account.   I've heard nothing and I need my P&L reports!  It is very strange, I see the invoice under invoices and it shows that it was paid and reconciled.  However, it never shows on the P&L when I drill down in the report.

Hi there, @rtl1.

Let's review the details of your invoices to check if they've set up appropriately. You can consider this  one of the reasons you’re unable to see the list of your transactions in Profit and Loss report.

You can check the Transaction Journal on the invoice to know your profit.

Here's how:

1. Click Sales on the left menu.

2. Go to the All Sales tab.

3. Locate and open the invoice.

4. Once the invoice is open, hit More button at the bottom and select Transaction Journal

Also, let’s make sure that the associated account to the item is under the Income account. It may associate to the wrong account, that's why it isn't showing in your Profit and Loss report.

For more details on why transactions are not showing up, check out this article: Why are my income and expense transactions missing from my Profit and Loss report?.
