Deducting items from inventory when it is included in a Bundle.

I am using Square POS which interfaces with Quickbooks Plus online for inventory tracking.  I am able to set up single items just fine, but I want to sync Bundles. For example, when I sell a hamburger, I want to decrease 1 meat patty and 1 bun from inventory.  I have saved these items in a Bundle Called  Hamburger.  So far when I sell a hamburger, I am not seeing these items decrease in inventory.  Does anyone have any tips?

Hi there, @Passtime.

Thank you for dropping by. I can help you track your bundles in QuickBooks Online.

Good job in setting up single items for your inventory. Next thing we need to accomplish is creating a bundle. A bundle is a collection of products and/or services that you sell together.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Click Sales.
  2. Select Products and Services.
  3. Click New.
  4. Choose Bundles.
  5. Add the single items.
  6. Click Save and close.

Once you begin tracking quantity on hand for an item, values for that item are created and tracked on your company's Balance Sheet. For in-depth information, you can refer to this article: Product and Service types and how to change them.

That should get you on the right path. Let me know if you have other questions about inventory. I'd be here to provide additional help. Wishing you and your business continued success.

A bundle is a nickname, there is NO way to track qty of a bundle, there is no value for a bundle either

I have not tried what you are doing, but just off the top of my head

the name of the bundle in square has to be the same as the name in QB - if that is true and it does not work to reduce the qty on hand for the items listed in the bundle, (and assuming you can sell the bundle in QB and it works fine)I would contact square support.

I expect they have a problem in this area with the way the data is transferred

You can follow what Rustler shared, Brennan Morrow.

The name of your item has to be the same as on your QuickBooks. However, if you've set it up correctly yet, it doesn't decrease the quantity on hand, it would be best to reach out to Square POS support. They can verify and guide you on how to resolve this issue.

Has anyone figured this out yet? So when I go to match my transactions in QuickBooks from Square it gives me an error message on bundled items stating that the dollar amount for a bundled item must be zero. So if it has to be zero coming into QuickBooks from Square then how am I to charge the customer for the bundle in Square? Not sure how this is a Square issue but I suppose it could be. The reason I was looking at using Square was to find a solution to this problem. I loved using the QuickBooks mobile apps for payment processing but they cannot process a bundled item either. Instead you have to log onto the online version. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm here to share details about syncing and matching bundled items from the Square app to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @DSLLC1.

To match your Square bundled transactions in QBO, the two systems must be in the same way when tracking those items. With this, I'd recommend reaching out to the Square app support. This is to check what's causing the error and guide you in handling and matching your bundled transactions with QBO.

Also, I'm adding this article to know the supported features using the QBO mobile app: Compare mobile app features. It contains a chart where it breakdowns the attribute on each device (i.e., iPhone, iPad, Android Phone, and Android tablet).

Additionally, you can also refer to this article to further guide you in managing your business's growth using QBO: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about data security, banking, and expenses, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. Please don't hesitate to post again if you have other concerns about managing your Square transactions in QBO. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
