Join nowLet me share details about managing your customer's account summary in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @kenbelfer. This way, you'll be able to determine on what actions you need to take care of this.
In QBO, account summaries only show charges and payments made before you created the invoice. That's why you're unable to show and print it in your invoices. Alternatively, you can send a Balance Forward statement. This way, you can give your customers their complete transaction history. I can guide you how.
I've attached screenshots for your reference.
Aside from the customer's account summary using Balance Forward, we can use other types of customer statements. These are Open Item and Transaction Statements. For the detailed steps, kindly refer to this article: Create and view customer statements.
Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
I want to print an invoice in Quickbooks Online showing not only the current charge but also the account summary for customers with prior balances. Despite following the instructions and clicking show account summary on invoice, no matter how many times I have tried the account summary does not appear on the invoices when I print or preview them. In response to your suggestion, the forwarded balance does appear on the statement, but no detail on the Service item which has been currently invoiced - just the word invoice and the date and amount. I understand that is all that is possible in Online. The invoice has the proper description of the service, but I can't get it to display the account summary for some reason.
Hello @kenbelfer,
You'll have to make sure that the template used in the invoice you wanted to print is set to show up your customer's account summary. To do so, open the invoice you wanted to print, click on Customize, and select Edit Current or choose your correct template.
