Error message when downloading QB file

I keep getting a Microsoft Excel error message when I try to download my AP Aging Summary Report in Excel. It says we found a problem with some content. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Error message when downloading QB file

Hi there, @tmalloy.

I have replicated your concern on the Test Drive company, in which I was able to download the AP Aging Summary Report in Excel. I also checked if there's a reported concern about this but haven't found one.

To isolate the issue, let's try opening your account in a private (incognito) window and ensure that your Microsoft Excel is updated. Using a safe browser and accessing the program from there can usually fix the issue.

Check out these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Command + Shift + N (Safari)
  • Ctrl+ Shift + N (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox)

After that, run a report. Check if you're now able to export the AP Aging Summary. If it works, go back to your default browser and clear cache. See Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online for more information.

Otherwise, switch to a different browser like Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari. The one you are currently on may be having a temporary issue with QuickBooks, and using a new browser for the moment will allow you to get back to work.

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. Have a great day!

This still did not work. I had another employee try to download the same report and they were unable to get it to download.

I do not have issues with any other QB reports, just the AP Aging Summary.

Error message when downloading QB file

Hi there, @tmalloy.

I'm happy to share with you the steps on how to update your Microsoft Office to resolve the issue in downloading the Accounts Payable Ageing Summary report.

Here's how:

  1. Open any Microsoft Office app, such as Word, then create a new document.

  2. Click File, then Account (or Office Account if you opened Outlook).

  3. From Product Information, choose Update Options, then Update Now.

Note: You may need to click Enable Updates first if you don't see the Update Now option right away.

  4. Close the "You're up to date!" window after Office is done checking for and installing updates.

You can also use the Update Options button to Disable Updates or to View Updates that were previously installed.

Once done, manually open the excel manually after export.

You may also check on how to export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online for more information.

Get back to me if you have any additional questions about exporting reports to excel. I'm just a post away.
