Forms are free to fill out and print at irs.gov
Shouldn't have to fill out a form that QuickBooks already has all the information to autofill. How is this form not available to select and send out to anyone I need to send it to?
Glad to see you here in the Community, @ClassicPoolGuy.
I've got some insights about printing the W-9 form to be sent out to your contractors in QuickBooks Online.
At the moment, printing W-9 forms is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. The program allows to fill out the form to ensure that the information is accurate. You can check out this reference to give your more insights on how W-9 forms are collected in QBO: The contractor W-9s.
However, you can complete the form by downloading a PDF copy and manually filling it out for printing. For more information, see Forms and Associated Taxes for Independent Contractors on the IRS website or contact the IRS at 800-829-3676 for further guidance.
The details about obtaining W-9 forms and understanding the penalties associated with the form's requirements can be found in this article: About IRS Form W-9 request for Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and certification.
Let me know if you have additional questions about this, or need further assistance with anything in QuickBooks. I'm here to help. Have a lovely day!
I'm not trying to collect a W-9. One has been requested from me. Its a simple form that QBO should be able to generate for my company to email off when it is requested.
Thanks for the quick reply, ClassicPoolGuy
I acknowledge you for sharing your thoughts on how you'd want QuickBooks to generate an auto-filled W-9 to send to a contractor.
Your sentiment is being noted. While this option is not yet available, I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks blog. From there we share the most recent updates which include new available features of the product.
The Community is always open if you have other questions. I'll be around to help. Wishing you have a wonderful day ahead.
I can second this. All my information AND the information of the vendor are already in Quickbooks. For each vendor there should be a "download w9" or "send w9" button. This feels like something that should be an obvious and easy addition.
I third this. This should be very basic to set up and is necessary.
What is the problem QB?? Install the d#mn software to download a W9. You have had over a year of covid to fix these issues. I am about to switch to another accounting software company.
Seems for the amount charged for all of us to use Quick Books, this among a few other things on my list, should be included from QB. Please put this on the features to be added list. :) Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, @Dashoots_Photobooth.

As john-pero suggested you can go to irs.gov and fill in and sign a w-9.
Then just save as a pdf. This can quickly be attached and emailed. You would only have to fill it out and save it one time.
Well, yeah - but I can do that without QuickBooks altogether. We pay for this program for efficiency and convenience, and not having to enter the same info into W9 forms repeatedly would be awfully convenient and efficient.
how to print my own w9
As a user of QBO, that's a non-solution. Why is that option not included, and what is the schedule for including it in an update?
I don't need to collect W-9s I need to be able to issue them on all my invoices.
Hello there, @scdavis50. I'm here to show you the way on how to send your W-9 through an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Currently, this form is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. However, you can fill out the form at the IRS website and get a copy of your W-9 form as a pdf file. Then, you can attach the file to the invoice.
The invoice form has an attachments section which you can attach the W-9 form file or other files up to 20MB. I've got a screenshot for you to see what it looks like:
You can also submit feedback to our developers so they can assess it. Sending feedback can be done in your QBO account. Simply select Feedback that can be found in the Settings or Gear icon.
Moreover, you can visit our QuickBooks Blog page to see the updates and innovations about QuickBooks Online.
I'll be around if you have any questions or concerns about any processes using QuickBooks. Comment below to let us know. Take care always!
Not the point, My God, really?
Yeah I still don't understand why you can't just program this PDF in. It's a couple of boxes to autocomplete.
