Has anyone else’s Etsy Orders integrated to Quickbooks as “Other Fees”? I have had to manually change them from spending to income.

It has only been happening these past 2 days.

Has anyone else’s Etsy Orders integrated to Quickbooks as “Other Fees”? I have had to manually change them from spending to income.

We haven't heard anything about this, Veemoose.

 

I can share some information about transactions imported from Etsy into QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

 

Did you make any adjustments to the Etsy-created accounts and services? Any information you share will help me provide the best solution to your issue.

 

The program will create accounts, services, and customer and vendor names when integrating Etsy with QBSE. Please make sure no changes to the default account and services. This way, the app to import Etsy transactions correctly. Check out how QBSE categorizes the following Etsy transactions:

 

  • Sales are entered as sales receipts.
  • Fees are entered as expenses.
  • Deposits are entered as transfers from the account “Etsy <Name of your shop>” to the bank account you selected when you set up the app.

 

In the meantime, you can add bank rules to automate and categorize the other fees as income. I'll show you how.

 

  1. Login to your QBSE account.
  2. Go to the Settings ⚙ and then Rules.
  3. Select Create Rule.
  4. In the Description field, enter the customer or vendor you want to create the rule for. Checkmark the Match exactly box if you want QuickBooks to only use the rule when transactions match exactly.
  5. In the Account dropdown, choose the account you want the transactions to go into.
  6. From the Type dropdown, select BusinessPersonal, or Split.
  7. If you want QuickBooks to categorize transactions, select the Category link and choose a category.
  8. If you the rule to apply to transactions you've already categorized, select to check the Also apply to past transactions checkbox.
  9. Once done, hit Save.

Has anyone else’s Etsy Orders integrated to Quickbooks as “Other Fees”? I have had to manually change them from spending to income.

I haven’t changed any rules. The transaction should say order like it does on Etsy, but it says fee I categorized. I’ll try to change the rule, but I believe it’s integrating incorrectly for some reason.

To be honest, I’m afraid to change the rule, seeing that most of 2021 seems ok. I don’t want to make a bigger mess.

If you're unsure what category to select for the fee, I recommend consulting your accountant. This is to ensure your books are accurate, and all transactions are posted to the correct category. If you're not affiliated with one, you can visit our Intuit Find-A-ProAdvisor site to find certified professionals near you. 

 

Once you have the information, you can follow these steps to categorize your transactions:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account.
  2. Go to Transactions on the left panel.
  3. Find the transaction on the list and select Business or Personal. If the transaction was both, select Split.
  4. Review the category in the Category column. QuickBooks tries to categorize transactions for you. If you need to change the category, select the category link. Select a general type, and choose a more detailed category.
  5. Click Save once done.

I'm having the SAME issue as the original poster. I have Etsy set up to automatically send my sales info to Quickbooks. It used to import as a Sale and the rule would automatically rule it as Income. As of December 31st, Etsy sales are showing as "Other Fees" and being automatically ruled as transaction/processing fee. It's the IMPORT from Etsy that's incorrect, nothing with rules or anything we did on our end.

I'm having the same exact issue as you are. I have my QB synced with Etsy. Before it showed "Order # Sale" and was auto categorized as income. As of yesterday, sales are being shown as "Other fees" and auto categorized as "processing and transaction fees".

No, my income is being auto categorized as a fee. It’s happening with 2 of my Etsy shops. I didn’t touch or change anything. Could be happening with my 3rd Etsy shop, but I wouldn’t know until I get as sale there. It’s frustrating!

Creating rules to categorize your transactions automatically as suggested by my peer Giovann_G will be of great help. 

 

Additionally, QuickBooks will only depend on the transactions sent from integrated apps (Etsy). I'd suggest you check your transactions with Etsy. 

 

If the transactions are labeled correctly, you can contact our Customer Care team to help review your transactions. Here's how: 

 

  1. Click Assistant.
  2. Enter talk to a human.
  3. Click Send.

Has anyone else’s Etsy Orders integrated to Quickbooks as “Other Fees”? I have had to manually change them from spending to income.

I’m nervous about creating a rule because my income from Etsy is showing up as a “other fee” . There is an additional item integrating as “other fee” which IS a fee. If I create a rule, I will only create another problem. Everything was fine until late Dec 31. As of right now, I have had to correct each transaction individually, but I’m hoping the integration fixes soon. My sales are listed correctly as “Order” in Etsy. Not sure where the problem lies, but everything looks correct in Etsy and I made no changes in my Quickbooks.
